Works great for keeping in moisture for grass seed germination
This stuff works great for grass seeding a new lawn. You have to be careful when starting a roll to make sure you find the proper place in the layers to start to unroll it or you'll end up with a mess. I bought 30 rolls and didn't have trouble with any of them but can see where others might have a problem. I have 3 large crazy dogs so in the back yard I had to flip the blanket over so their feet wouldn't get caught in the fine mesh. Flipping it was a pain the back side but the extra effort will pay off for sure. Instead of having to water 3 times a day to keep the new seeds wet I only need to water once a day because the blanket keeps the ground from drying out.

If It Wasn't for the Plastic Netting This Would Be Perfect
We had a massive failure the first time we tried to plant our yard to Zoysia and decided we needed a little extra insurance with a covering to keep the birds out and the ground moist. We decided to give this a try and it was just what the doctor ordered. It was surprisingly easy to roll out - the only hard part was cutting it to fit around curved edges, trees, and at the end of each run. It did a great job keeping the soil moist and our germination rate this time around was WAY better. The only downside is the plastic mesh that holds the bulk of the blanket together will need to be removed at some point. Other than that, this product was perfect for us.

View a YouTube video first
I gave only 4 stars because there were no instructions included and I unrolled the first roll improperly and had a mess with the strings holding the fibers together. Be sure to access a YouTube video on how to unroll it properly to avoid a real mess. Unrolls easily if done correctly and works well to prevent erosion and get grass seed started.

I would need to rake this area come fall and the plastic mesh that holds the mat together would make things tedious. The other issue is that you have ready-made ...
This product does what it's supposed to. It protects a newly seeded area from heavy rain and erosion and it holds moisture to help the seeds germinate.A word of caution...I realized that because the area of lawn I was rebuilding is partly under a tree, I would need to rake this area come fall and the plastic mesh that holds the mat together would make things tedious. The other issue is that you have ready-made thatch for your lawn. I understand this material is supposed to break down over time, but I began to fear the lawn was going to stay too wet and get ruined.I ended up pulling it up after the lawn was 3 weeks old. I sustained some casualties in the form of seedlings that were up-rooted and I was left with a huge pile of this material to dispose of. In hindsight I should have done this differently and not used this mat. It certainly helped get my lawn started but the trade off wasn't worth it.

Works well
Second time purchasing this product. It works well for what it is designed for, erosion control and protection of new/overseeding grass. Also works well as a light blanket for outdoor down seeds to protect from overnight cool downs. The only issue is the net gets caught in my shoes if I walk on the blanket. I also have been able to re-use pieces once seeds have taken root, moving to another project area. Some of the dried material does fall away but enough is still intact to use again. Much better price and value than big box home improvement stores. Definitely would recommend and buy again.

Thin but fully workable to use as a blind.
Ordered to assemble a deer blind. Thin but works well. The netting holds it all together (a plus for this application)
