Surprisingly good
I gotta say, I'm impressed with this little monster. I've had it just over a week now and used it several times to clean my 16' x 32' rectangular pool. The pool is 3' deep at both ends and 5' deep in the middle, making the slope well within the specified 15 degree limit. My wife named the little guy Herbie, because he looks like the Love Bug from the movie. About the performance: my pool litter is mainly comprised of ash tree leaves, pine needles and fine desert dust. This robot picks it all up, no problem. I've always owned pressure-side cleaners from Ray Vac to Polaris 360. This robot cleans at least as well as they did within its 90 minute cycle. It helps if I use the pole brush to push the silt out of the corners of the pool before it runs, as when the Paxcess gets to the radius at the base of the walls its suction gates are sometimes raised too far from the plaster to pick up everything. But I can't say for sure that it wouldn't eventually scatter the dust and pick it up. I need to try without the brushing to know for sure. But as for leaves and pine needles on the floor of the pool, they're all gone within 90 minutes. What Paxcess doesn't do: It doesn't climb walls, more than just the radius at the base. It also won't get onto steps or ledges. It doesn't brush the surface. It has a single, stationary, brush that's used to help it pick up debris, not to scrub the surface. It doesn't have intelligence to map the pool, its movements are guided by the directional settings you set on its two jets, and it will take some experimentation to get them set right to cover the entire pool. Mine was spending 90% of its time in one half of my pool until I spent an hour or so watching it and fiddling with settings on the jets.. not unlike the pressure-side cleaners I've owned. But once dialed in, it covers every part of the pool. It doesn't stay in the pool and run in the background or on a timer. When you need the pool cleaned, you turn it on, drop it in and let it run, then pull it out after 90 minutes (it stops near the side of the pool where you can grab its string/handle, but sometimes I need to use a pole to reach it, no big issue). Then hose it out and put it back on the charger. It will be ready to go again in about 4 hours. At about half the price of a pressure-side cleaner and about a third the cost of a plug-in robotic cleaner, I think this performs at least as well as the former, and probably nearly as good as the latter, if you don't mind starting and stopping it each time. And cleaning it out is easy. Other reviewers have included photos of the screen and holding area. Both are the size of the entire chassis of the unit, so there is plenty of screen and capacity. As with all rechargeable things, I'm sure the battery will degrade over time, and I'm hopeful that replacement batteries will be available (maybe they already are, I haven't looked). But overall for the price, and if you don't mind manually brushing the walls and steps once in a while, this is a great cleaner. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Dead After 1 Season (3 mo.)
Although this product does a very good job in cleaning our above ground pool, the longevity is incredibly poor. I waited a year to write this review. I purchased in March of 2022 and I live in WI. Our season in WI is basically June through the end of August so that is when it got used. Maybe once a week to every other week (12 - 15 times last summer). It did a really decent job. When I pulled it out and used it this summer I started having issues with it. It would stop 20 minutes in. I could usually get it started again, but the same thing happened. We were able to find a number for customer service, but as you'll see from other members they don't care. You have to email them and you just get ignored. I told them there is a note on their website for a "...24 months warra-nties for cordless automatic pool cleaner and friendly custome-r servic-e toll-free and official..." but they claim it doesn't exist so I screen shot it and emailed it to them, but again, they don't care. I spent $310 back in 2022 for this item and regret ever single cent (15 cleanings cost me $20.67 per cleaning...LOL!) You win some, you lose some. Btw...this company is owned/affiliated with Aiper so buyer beware!!!! I've been going back and forth, going in circles with customer service from Aiper (which I found interesting) so thought I better share since Aiper is all the rage right now!

Defective right out of the box SO DISAPPOINTED
UPDATE: SO FIRST LET ME SAY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS IMPRESSIVE About 7 weeks after this original review was posted, i was contacted by customer service for the manufacturer. They offered to send me another vacuum FREE of charge stating they didn't like for customers to be disappointed. All they asked for was my shipping address ........no credit card, no shipping cost just a FREE replacement. I responded and provided my home address and in about 5 days the replacement arrived on my doorstep. Now keep in mind that I had already receive a refund from Amazon and the manufacturer was aware. I charged it up, put it in the pool and it works beautifully. It's very easy to operate and clean the filter. It has changed my world as far as how i clean my pool now. But i am truly amazed that there is a company that REALLY CARES about what people think of their products. HAPPY CUSTOMER NOW! Vacuum arrive and was placed on the charger and after a few hours the green light came on indicating it's fully charged and ready to go. Took it out to the pool and made sure the the flow valves were set and turned it on .........NOTHING happens. Get the manual check everything and put back on charger which shows solid green light indicating it ready to go. The BLUE indicator light on the vacuum never came on. Call the customer service for the manufacturer and she states that apparently it is defective and advised me to return either through Amazon or their company directly but i would need to respond to them with a picture of the light not coming on blah blah blah......i decided to return through Amazon and get a refund. Maybe i will shop a local pool store instead if all this mailing back in forth. What a big disappointment.

Great cleaner. Don't let 4 stars scare you away
First off, don't let 4 stars throw you off. Too many people rate things 5 and 1 stars for stupid reasons and I think that's unfair. 1 star to me means that the product sucks in every way possible. 5 stars means it is the greatest thing ever put on earth. This product is definitely neither. It's not perfect but I think it's fantastic. I bought this pool cleaner because the other name brand one I had for years finally died and the replacement price is ridiculous. So while searching Amazon this one came up. The price was half of what I was getting ready to spend. I had concerns, mostly because it was battery operated but I went for it. My previous cleaner was one connected to my pool wall and run by the filter. It cleaned well but would get stuck in spots and after some time made a lot of white streaks on the pool plaster. So, I decided to try this product that my daughter immediately named Pac-Man. So far we love it. Been using for about 4 months or so. Our pool is "kidney shaped" and about 16,000 gallons so not big. All of the corners are rounded with no straight walls. Living in the Las Vegas desert the wind blows alot. We have a few large trees that shed all year long so the pool gets dirty on a daily basis. Pac-Man goes in the pool usually every other day. He runs for 90 minutes almost on the dot! I set a timer and he's always ready to come out when the bell rings. There are two "trap doors" on the bottom that suck the leaves and junk into the body. Theres a large screen inside that traps everything at the bottom. He's driven by two "jets" one on either end. The wing at the top tells Pac-Man when to reverse. When he gets to a wall or something in the pool, floor strainer, etc, the wing senses it and the reverse jet kicks in and he goes in the opposite direction. The jets can be adjusted so that he doesn't go in straight lines and it took no time for me to adjust Pac-Man for the perfect direction I needed. At 90 minutes he always stops close to the pool edge and I pull him out by the rope line that's attached to his body. Taking him apart to clean is simple. Top comes off, screen comes out and 2 minutes with a hose and he's clean. Reassembly takes 15 seconds. The fact that he has to be taken out after 90 mins ended up being a good thing instead of a hassle. I used to keep my old cleaner in the pool constantly and I think it led to his demise. Pulling Pac-Man out and cleaning him will undoubtedly lead to a longer life. Suction is good, haven't run into anything in my pool he won't pick up except maybe a rock or two my dogs knocked into the pool. But all things considered I love Pac-Man and glad we went with him. No moving parts except for the jets that drive him so absolutely no damage to my pool like my last cleaner. Now for my concerns. Battery. How long will it last over time and how easy is it to order a new one and install. Can't answer that yet but undoubtedly this is a concern because batteries die. Pac-Man doesn't like rounded corners. Because of the width of his body he's incapable of getting debris in big rounded corners. There is one corner of my pool that Pac-Man doesn't like so he won't clean it. Not a big deal for me because my old cleaner had a corner it wouldn't clean either. So I just run a brush through that spot real quick if there's debris and it's taken care of. Lastly is the time it takes for Pac-Man to recharge. This isn't a problem for me but something to mention. Pac-Man runs for 90 mins but takes easily 4-5 hours to recharge. Pretty sure it's a designed "trickle charge" to extend the life of the battery. Again, not a problem but if you have a large pool and expect to use the product, take it out, do a quick recharge, and throw back in, that's not going to happen. That's it. We love Pac-Man! Like all products there are positives and negatives. This one is no different. But if you want an affordable cleaner that's easy to use I think this is a good alternative and I'm glad I took a chance.

Worth the money!
Love this little robot. We bought it in the 2021 pool season and it’s still going strong for 2022. It’s easy to use and works like a dream. It picks up so much dirt. It runs for a couple hours if you let it run its full time. Also, it gets the finer dirt moving to the top so the filter can filter out. We have an above ground pool; the Coleman Power Steel 18ft and 48 inches. The customer service is amazing as well. They get back with you quickly. We had to have two of our charging port protectors replaced because my cat loves to eat them. We now keep it in a separate room so he can’t get to it. But both times we’ve needed a new protector we’ve emailed the company and within 2 weeks we have a new one. The only downside to this robot is having to unplug it when it’s fully charged. I hate that because I do forget to unplug it and I’m afraid it will erode the battery over time. I would also like to say that it is a bit heavy when it breaks the surface. So when your pulling it out the water will need to drain out of it before it’s light enough to fully get it out.

Not good for me, maybe for you
I have a 10,000 gallon kidney shaped pool. Shallow side is 3.5 feet deep. Deep side is 6 feet deep. The bottom isn't flat and it curves up on the sides from bottom to top. I'm experienced with maintaining a pool. I have a System 3 diatomaceous earth filter that has 53 sq ft of filter space. Run the pump 12 hours a day at 2200rpm to achieve balance between energy usage and turning the pool over (happens about every 3 hours according to the math). I loath hauling out my pole, sweeper, filter canister, and connecting all of this to the pump via the skimmer to vacuum the floor and sides of my pool. Take too long, too many nuances. Been doing it this way for decades. I figured technology could make it easier for me. Aside - I don't use an auto vacuum since I have dogs that swim all the time. Don't want them to catch a hose and drown. The main things that litter my floor are dog hair, sand / crushed granite from nearby paths, material from the roof of my house, leaves from many trees, and DE powder from when I spray the filters after vacuuming (backs out thru the line). I grew up swimming in creeks so having a perfectly clean pool isn't my goal. I just know I need to clean it from time to time in order to keep algae from forming. In general, I keep my DE filter clean by back washing once a month, I vacuum the floor about once a month, and I skim weekly. I finally decided to try one of the automated, cordless vacuums. These are the ones I tried. POOL BLASTER Max CG, $299 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002L61OGA Paxcess Cordless Robotic Cleaner, $318.09 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088JWRWGM AIPER Cordless Automatic Pool Cleaner, $876.81 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KY211BP Winner was the Pool Blaster. Paxess - Filter screen is about 180µm which wasn't able to catch all the DE (DE is generally less than 100µm in size). The unit blew much of the DE back into the water. It did filter some. - Wasn't strong enough to climb up from my deep end so it remained in the deep end. - I felt the Paxess performed better than the Aiper in my pool. Might not for yours. - Charging was easy. Battery worked fine. Lasted about an hour. Aiper - Filter screen was much too big. Couldn't catch DE nor sand. Manufacturer didn't disclose size of filter. Blew debris right back into pool. - Unit claims to climb up walls. Mine didn't. It would attempt to climb it, back flip, then try again...over and over as it worked around the pool. Very odd behavior. - Charging was easy. Battery worked fine. Lasted about an hour. Pool Blaster Max CG - I really like this tool. It's different than the robots. It's a self contained, battery operated, cordless device. But, you attach it to the end of your pole. - I'm used to using a pole to work on my pool and I like the exercise of using my legs, arms, and core. - So, this tool really spoke to me. - Comes with 2 filters: one for general debris and one for super fine stuff like DE. The DE one is excellent! It captured all of my DE. However, I had to empty it after every length of the pool (short length of about 6 feet). I had to empty it about 30 times in order to clean all the DE off the entire bottom of my pool. This sucked (<-- pun) - So, I modified my approach. I turned up my pool motor to max RPM and scrubbed the pool to get the DE in solution. Then the next day I vacuumed with the general filter. This seemed to greatly help but it wasn't perfect. - So, I reset my expectations and my process. The next time I sprayed the filters in my DE bubble, I emptied the bubble into my sewer line of my house (very easy and fast for me to do). I don't run backwash / pool water waste to my yard because the chlorinated water damages my trees and vegetation. Then, I capped my line that goes back to my pool. Spray quickly. Then reassemble and I'm done. - Now, when I use the Pool Blaster, I can use the general filter basket and I can vacuum the whole pool in 30 min. Doing it the old way with the hose, vacuum head, canister, etc used to take 2 hours because of how many times I had to stop and tend to the nuances. I also had to backwash / clean the filters in the DE bubble to avoid algae building up in the bubble - Emptying the filter of the pool blaster is super fast. Take me less than 2 min. I shake it out into a bucket, then I rub it while dunking it into the skimmer. Then back to work. Suggestion to Pool Blaster If they had a filter that was in between the size of the fine one and the general one, it'd be even better. Overall, I'm happy with the Pool Blaster. I'm happy that the time to done is 30 min vs 2 hours. And, I don't have to clean my DE filter after vacuuming the pool to avoid algae building up in the DE canister. The Pool Blaster is a completely separate tool which means my DE filter remains untouched and hence I don't have to clean it every time. We live in a hot, humid environment so fighting algae is always a thing.

How to replace the battery.
How to replace battery! Lasted two years for me, and cleaner worked great. They say it's not "consumer replaceable," but it is with a screwdriver. The link to "fox buying" isn't likely supported, but the part is a 1-1v-5200-6400mah-3s2p-18650-lithium-battery-for-emergency-lights-monitoring-toys. Take it apart with a screwdriver, take pictures if you're afraid you won't remember how to put it back together. The main unit is only pushed together, it's not snapped or glued. But there are two o-rings to prevent leakage and it's very tight. So CAREFULLY and slowly pry them apart. I used pool grease when putting it back together. The battery pack has a fitting that just unclicks, no soldering. Be sure to reorder the same fitting as the battery comes with several options. I didn't find the exact one on amazon. I tool timed it with a 7000 mah version for $41 instead of the 5200 mah pack it came with for a longer run time. And yes, it worked. It will also require a lot of pressure to push the two halves back together, be carefull not to push on the exposed blades. A mild use of a vicegrip to get it started, do not crush the plastic.

No customer support or parts availability.
Update : 6/25 Incredible failure in the Customer Service area . The robot needs a simple filter frame . There is no way to contact this company. Even the parent company ignores service requests. I’d pay a little more and get another brand . Update : 8/25 It died . It won’t charge anymore. It worked for 4 years but with limited use . The filter had to be Mickey Moused as the service after the sale is nonexistent! I’ll be spending a little and will carefully review the comments. Update : 5/05/25 : still haven’t found a seller for the filter screen . I’ve tried to fabricate my own filter by cutting and gluing fabric over the frame . The frame is now breaking . I’ve also noticed that the price has dropped by over $200.00 ! I feel ripped off by the price drop and the unavailability of a common replacement part . I’m going to try the parent company , Apier , to see if I can order a filter before the season starts . Very disappointed and frustrated! Update : 7/11/24 : The unit is still working well accept for the filtering screen which has started to disintegrate. I’ve attempted to contact the seller to order a replacement filter screen . They don’t have a customer service dept. from what I can tell . I did make contact with a company associated with the seller . They stated that the “ hook” I needed was out of stock but were expected to be back I stock in two weeks . More than two weeks have passed and there hasn’t been any contact from that company . I’ve resorted to wrapping the filter in a cloth pool skimmer sock . That works for now . Just buyer beware that there is no parts or customer support after the sale . Update 9/17/22: Just finished another season and it’s still working fine. My pool is near trees that shed Pine Needles constantly. This unit handles them and any leaves easily . Opening in the Spring means running 2-3 times to get what ever got under the cover , but the end of season to close only needs one pass to prepare it for the cover etc… Easy to set up right out of the box . The price value of this unit was the main attraction. I do see that the price has gone up about $20.00 since I bought a few weeks ago . It runs a long time ( 90 minutes at least ) on a full charge . Does an excellent job of cleaning . I have a 15’x33’ Oval Above Ground Pool. I set one nozzle to 0 degrees and the other at 20 degrees. That setting seems to hit all the areas . Easy to lift out , and clean the tray . I really like the ease of use . I can’t speak long term life as it’s brand new , but I’m very happy so far .
