Is the clock silent in operation or is any noise resembling ticking?

The clock makes no noise. Actually, at first the pendulum was making a little noise. I stopped it and restarted and it is completely silent now.

Will a 29 inch long pendulum work on this ?

The one that comes with the movement is 7 in. long. The one I am using is 10 in long. and works fine. 29 is 3 times that so not sure??

is there a hanger on the back of this mechanism?

No, but when I bought it, it worked for two days and stopped. It was a useless attempt to repair the clock with another broken clock mechanism.

My clock face is 6" in diameter so all the hands appear too long - how do I find horter ones?

You have to know what length you are replacing and than read description of parts included before you purchase
