Probably a best option short of having diapers custom made to fit
UPDATE: After using for a while there is more to add to this review. The more the dog wears them and as we put them on her and remove them every time she goes out to potty, we realize the fit isn't actually as good as thought. It does go around her waist just fine and it secures but the velcro stick on part is not long enough to as she walks around the side edge of it slips out. They give you and extra piece of velcro to sew on but not everyone will want to sew more on a premade product to make it stay on securely. There are some snaps on the lower back area above tail. They can be snapped horizontally or vertically. They are plastic but they work surprisingly well. They give kind of give a frilly pants look. It does help with the fit on top. The under part remains baggy so if she had a #2 accident it can fall out and if she lays, then the leaks can essentially be unprotected but it this case, though it's baggy in that area it still helps but isn't a total problem solver. Also, keep in mind the size of your dogs tail. Our lab can only JUST fit her tail inside. If the hole were a bit bigger it would be better. We tried resolving the issue of baggyness and lack of velcro length for a fully secured strap by ordering the next size down but the size difference was significant and though we tried to cut the tail hole wider it was an absolute no go. When you order it, maybe it will fit, maybe it will need adjusting. They can't make it to fit every dog but it's still an improvement over nothing and they have tried some creative ways to make the situation adaptable for different sized dogs. If you have time and are handy with sewing you should be good no matter what. Would buy again, if needed, and would just plan to sew that extra velcro section on from the get-go. But I threw it away not really understanding why it was in the package until a week in and I just realized they were not securing fully so one half always hangs partway open on her hip. The absorbency seems good and they do wash well. Original review: Three days ago our senior dog had her first indoor accidental number one while napping so we had the order placed within minutes! The diapers arrived two days after placing order, right on time. We had ordered the XXL in the pink, black and gray 3 pc set floral design. (It's pretty.) She is a lab and it fits well and is true to size. Her having never worn a diaper before it is good to see that she isn't being bothered by wearing this. So glad we got her this. What a relief! (I did use a treat just to get her to stand up so I could put that on her. She was a bit confused but that was about it.) 100000% better than having to smell and clean up indoor pee oopses! If your pup is piddlin', you should just order it now. It's a good product.

Better than disposable
These reusable, washable diapers are so much better than the single use, disposable ones. Not only do they seem more comfortable (my dog actually seems to enjoy wearing them) and more absorbent, but they are extremely adjustable. I love how the Velcro around the waste can overlap onto itself and also the snaps above the tail area to be sure the diaper isn’t too baggy. It makes it easy to adjust the diaper to the correct size for your pup’s body. This is my first experience with a dog in heat and this item has made the experience much easier.

Excellent fit and function
These are so MUCH better than disposable dog diapers! They fit so much better, are non-toxic (especially if your dog likes to try to eat her diapers like mine does) and are very easy to put on and clean. Long story short, we got a rescue dog who was reported to have been spayed but two months in, went into heat and was bleeding everywhere. I started with disposable diapers, but she was trying to eat them, and the hole was too large so she was constantly still bleeding everywhere because they didn’t fit properly. She’s 30 pounds and has a thin waist, so I got both a medium and the large size. They actually both fit her so I’m keeping both sets (although I won’t need them after she gets spayed in a couple of weeks). They’re really great because they fit well around her tail so blood can’t get anywhere. I highly recommend these. I’m going to hold onto them for the days when she’s old and incontinent.

Size up
I really love these diapers - high quality, sturdy, and washes well when you follow instructions provided. Tail hole is big enough for my dog's tail. However these are far too small for my 35 pound dog.

These are perfect
WORTH IT These fit my senior 6lbs chihuahua, I utilize the adjustable buttons. Her tail fits the hole just fine- it's got elastic in the hole so if your dog has a big fat tail it'll fit. The velcro is awesome and I like that there is a second patch of velcro so you can snug it even more of your dog is smaller or if that elastic wears out over time. Since these have been delivered my dog has gone #1 and #2. I'm using these diapers with the wegreeco pad inserts and I'm glad I purchased those as well because for such a little dog there is a lot of urine. I'm sure for incontinence tinkles the diapers themselves would absorb just fine but for that extra layer of absorbency I purchased the little inserts. She doesnt go to the door like she used to to ask to be let out and sometimes she likes to leave surprises for me. This is saving my carpet and keeps me from having to hoover over her ALL day. For peace of mind these are fantastic, they're affordable and they're cute. I will be purchasing more of these. *edit* Since having these, washing the pads and diapers is doable but even with the washable inserts it still seeps through to the diaper. So if you want to save some soap and hot water I recommend using these diapers for the ultra secure feature alongside disposable pad inserts. There are all sizes of inserts you can purchase. Ill be keeping the diapers and the washable inserts as I think they will be an asset in a pinch if I were to run out of disposable pads. These velcro diapers are the only thing my dog cant slip out of and that has really saved me a headache.

Ok but didn't work so great for my dog
I bought these in medium and large for my 22 pound jack russell because I didn't know what size would be best. She is a long legged jack russell and medium build. Her waist is 18" around where the diapers close. Medium is the best size for her. I bought these for my dog to primarily wear at night as she only has incontinence when she's sleeping. I got the large first and I have to say the leg holes are far too big and gappy. Pee leaked out the leg holes and I woke up sleeping in pee! Not good! When I hooked the Velcro it looped all the way around leaving the ends loose and the leg holes too gapped. I ended up having to put a stitch in the leg holes to keep these from gapping. I then ordered a medium. At first I thought they were going to be too small. But I did manage to hook the Velcro just enough on both sides to fit. The leg holes were far less gappy than the large size. They do still gap a little though. I didn't have an issue of pee leaking out. However, both pairs easily slid right off her butt! They were constantly sagging and her cropped tail kept getting out of the tail hole and the tail hole ended up where it could potentially leak pee. Though I bought these for night time wear I found myself waking up all hours of the night to make sure they weren't falling down! A real pain and many lost nights sleep! Grrrr! My girl has short, slick fur and no real waist so I'm sure that played a part. I also didn't want to attach them too tight as another pair I got at a local pet store rubbed a raw spot on her tummy. So, here was my solution and it worked perfectly! Far better than these diapers if you have a dog like mine, with short, slick fur and no waist. A baby onesie. I ended up getting her a pack of 24 month onesies from Target. The brand is Just One You. I mention that because I also purchased the Carter brand in 18 month at Walmart and they were far too short!!! I then compared the Carter brand and Just One You brand and the same size in Carter was 2-3" shorter. So, if you have a dog my girls size, get the Just One You 4-pack at Target for $8.99. I also got Depends for women. I gotthe ones that hold level 5 flow. I cut one in half and I stuck it where the urine would come out inside the onesie. This worked perfectly and was the perfect size to hold what would have been a pretty big size puddle. I cut it in half because it fit better and was enough to hold the amount of urine from one round of peeing. These pads wick up all the moisture so you aren't left with having to bathe your dogs rear end every morning. As a matter of fact, even if these diapers did work for my girl and didn't slide off her rear, I would advise getting a Depends pad for women and cutting it in half and outing inside the diaper. I think it would be better because the absorbent layer inside these diapers isn't nearly as absorbent as these pads. I would advise anyone with a dog the size of mine or smaller to the onesie route of your dog has no waist. If you dog does have a waist, I would advise trying these diapers with a depends pad In them. As for the tail hole, just cut one with scissors. I didn't bother because my girl doesn't tend to have her tail up at night anyway. And that's the only time I use them. There's a pick of my girl wearing a 24 month old baby onesie. I gave these a three star because I'm sure they would work for some dogs just fine, particularly with a depends pad inside. But for my girl, the onesie with a half a depends was is perfect!

Great Dane
XL fits my 8 month old Great Dane girl with room to grow with her! This is her first heat cycle and these diapers have been a life saver. Vet won't spay her until she's a year old and I wanted to make sure I'd be ready for her first heat so I ordered these early, they came in with 2 weeks to spare. She's not a fan lol, but I don't want her ruining my couches so she can deal! This is my first time using diapers on a dog so I only ordered 3, but I've used all 3 every day since her cycle started a week ago so I ordered more. Tired of cleaning them so close together. I hand wash them with bar soap and spray with vinegar for disinfecting since we're in the middle of winter now and I can't line dry like the instructions say to do. I'll admit I dry them in the dryer on medium heat, but they've held up so far. The catch pad in the diaper feels like several layers of soft fabric, I'd expected that strip to bunch up with the rigorous cleaning but it's stayed flat on all 3 diapers and I'm very happy about that. Great product at a great price, thank you!!

Does the job
Fits well, does the job. We got size M for about 15-16 lb dog - size chart was correct. Easy to wash. It has some padding, I reinforced it with 1/2 of a stick on maxi pad for extra protection - holded well through the night. Has buttons on the back to adjust. Need to play with it so it would not slide off the tale.
