Zap, Crackle and Pop!
I ordered a couple of these for my home which is on a farm and we get a variety of flying insects throughout the year. I have one in my kitchen and one in my office. they are a bit flimsy and bend easily but if handled with care this is no problem. The theory is the critters are attracted to the UV lamps where they try to settle and the high voltage kills them, they then drop onto the removable (but now a bit bent) tray below. some will land outside of the designated drop zone so be careful of what is placed in the near vicinity of the device; cups of tea, sugar bowls, and buttered toast are to be avoided.I have tried some cheaper alternative designs but they are next to useless, this is the real McCoy.I have placed one high up on a kitchen shelf, and in the office I have one just above my monitors. Monitors actually attract flies more than the UV tubes and I have changed my computer wallpaper to black in an attempt to guide my victims to the right light. I am currently working on a patent to incorporate a high voltage zapper into the monitor screen but have hit snags with touch screens....It is intensely satisfying to see the flash and hear the crack as another one bites the dust, especially when the B*****d has been buzzing round your head, running round on your computer screen or landing on your food prior to its demise. Some go easily, others fight it and need a couple of zaps, the meatier ones will sizzle and smoke likethat bloke in the Green Mile when they used a dry sponge. I am not usually a vindictive man and I love all of god's creatures but these flies bring out worst in me.So I will leave you with a dire warning: Never leave this by an open window at night, you will be horrified at how many moths there are in this world!

Perfect fly killer
I've tried many fly zapper things. Inevitably they all break after one season. This is amazing and you can get replacement bulbs. Everyday we have a large number of dead insects on the removable tray. The mighty crack that you hear when an unsuspecting fly is drawn to the light is huge and oh so satisfying. Guests jump out of their skin when they hear it. I live in the countryside and I have every type of fly. There are horses and orchards nearby. This mighty warrior gets them all! I wish this had been the first one I bought. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the last one I buy as it's what I've been searching for.

Remarkably well constructed
Surprisingly will made and exceeds my, admittedly low, expectations. As advertised, the metal grills are strong which should make it safer. It came well packaged in an very sturdy box which was another surprise. As other reviews have stated, it's quite hard to get the tray out and I should think the chances of doing that without sending dead flies everywhere are minimal. I think I'll stick to vacuuming then out with the Hoover which is much easier.Considering the large gap between the high voltage elements I was surprised how many tiny midges this kills. As others have said, the effect on house flies is enough to cause pangs of guilt because they are rarely killed outright first time and can sometimes be found wandering around flightless hours after their encounter with the fly toaster.

Effective. Niggles though.
This is a replacement for a similar device so I know they work. Disappointing short power lead - much shorter than the recommended height so you'll probably need an extension lead. The chain makes it difficult to hang flat against a wall. The last one lasted less than 3 years of intermittent use - hope this one is better.

Brilliant
Living next door to a stable and horse paddocks we get a lot of flies. Smaller zappers don't last more than a few days, but this one it brilliant!Flies are zapped with such a crack that we thought we were under fire! Also very pleased that spare tubes are available, making this a really easy winner.

Caveat Emptor - Let the Buyer Beware - Avoid this Fly tickler
I am disappointed with this product! This has to be the worst insect killer on the market. As much as I dislike insects like flies entering my kitchen, I cannot help but feel for them when this device leaves them injured / halfdead and still moving/buzzing at the bottom of the machine. Given the zap sound that this device makes you would think it would deliver the coup de grace, but rather than this it simply leaves insects half dead and probably in agony.CAVEAT EMPTOR - AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS -It is totally ineffective

Finally!! A fly killer that works!
Summertime and the flies up the ante! You have two options with this, you can fix it or hang it on the wall, and you can move it to wherever the problem lies.It is easy to clean and zaps these pests in no time. It is very loud though when it catches a fly,in fact,my dog runs a mile when it goes off...but he is a wuss!My only gripe is the electric flex isn't very long, but all in all, it does the job perfectly and for the price I paid, it's excellent value.

Does the job, and you can hear it.
Works a charm, turn the other lights off in a room and it will have killed them all in a couple of minutes. The noise is something to get used to though. First couple of weeks it made me jump constantly. It’s like someone clapping really really loudly in the corner of the room. The cable is long enough to put at the required height above/next to a plug socket but otherwise you’ll need an extension cable. The lights are pretty bright on them so I’ve found at night the zapper noise became pretty frequent if windows are open as it attracts more in from outside directly to it.
