Fun With Sea Life Stencils (Dover Little Activity Books: Sea Life)

I was expecting the stencils to be larger; I probably didn't pay attention to the size when I was looking at the information. The book is only 4.25" X 6.75" and the stencils don't extend to the edge of the pages. The stencils themselves are cute and recognizable as the sea life they represent (turtle,sea horse, starfish, lobster, crab, and conch shell). I bought the book for myself to use to decorate a nautical themed bedroom but grade school children would probably enjoy using the stencils. The lobster and crab stencils have several "pieces" and some are quite small which could make them difficult for younger children to use without help.

I bought this booklet two and a half years ago, solely to use the seahorse stencil for painting my bathroom wall. At first I thought I might have to trace the seahorse shape onto plastic, because I wanted to "stamp" my walls with it and needed to use it many times. But the booklet paper was pretty sturdy, like shiny cardstock, so I decided to try it as-is. The seahorse design was perforated and very easy to punch out of the page without frayed edges or tears. I held the page to the wall and sponged over it with regular semi-gloss latex wall paint. It worked great--no bleeding or leaking. I used this same stencil to sponge approximately 70 little seahorses on the wall, and it held up great. I let the latex paint dry on the stencil paper, which made it stiffer, and since that day, I've re-used it several times with acrylic paint to add seahorses to various items.Before I bought this booklet, I searched online for seahorse stencils for a long time. None of them were as cute as the one in this book, and none of them were this cheap! This is seriously one of the best "painting supply" deals I've ever scored.

Sturdy little book (approx. 4"x6") six stencils each approx. 3-4" square: turtle,seahorse, starfish, lobster, crab and conch shell. Stencils are die cut from coated cardstock pages which can easily be separated by removing two staples. I gave it 3 stars because no size was stated which led me to expect larger pages based on average book size.

These stencils vary a little in size due to different shapes but they are about 3" by 4". The set includes a turtle, sea horse, starfish, lobster, crab, and conch shell. The designs are simple and easy to trace. The design is cut into card stock that is high gloss on both sides so if you plan on using paint, you can reverse the stencil to have the design facing in opposite directions. These may not be as durable as plastic, but they are economical and good quality, they will hold up well for many uses. i would recommend or buy Dover Stencils again.

for the price, these are good. For use with younger children, these are lightweight cardboard and will tear easily. Probably best suited for adults.

Bought every one of these little books that were available. They are small, about 1/4 the size of a standard sheet of paper. The inside is medium weight card stock and each page has one stencil. There are maybe 8 to 10 pages of stencils based on the book's theme in each book. Wouldn't use for a painting project, but I'm planning to turn them into fabric applique designs, and they will be perfect for that use.

Good price, just as described

I used these out on my pool deck to highlight a step.... they were perfect. Used them numerous times along the step. It wasn't an easy stencil with the texture but it came out really cute. Highly recommend these especially for easy projects.

Lovely stencils that are just the right size for making Zentangle cards. Your imagination can go wild with the basic outline defined for you. Great buy.

Kids at club enjoyed using

I have purchased several of the Dover Little Activity Books to create extra special Christmas gifts for the children of two families. The vast variety of activities provided in these books will no doubt provide them with several hours of screen-free entertainment!!
