So.. I am happy with the replacement head.. installation, while light on directions.. was rather simple. The blades ARE as other's have put in the view.. Good for grass.. but hit things thicker they snap. After only complete yard trimming... they were all broke .. but still worked.. I have since ordered a bag of replacements and will limp along as the year nears a close here in the great midwest.

Says it works with fs40 stihl... there's no way it would ever work with it. This head is no good. Built very cheap, going to stihl dealer later today to buy the real head, figured 20$ was to go to be true.

Quality is junk..Running at low speed the unit came apart and threw pieces everywhere.

So the issue with installing is you need to tighten it to the shaft to prevent it from coming off. Yes, I know simplistic. However the shaft wants to turn as you tighten it. They should have included a simple tool to hold the bottom nut from turning. A standard wrench or even needle nose will not fit inside the space to hold it while tightening. I made my own tool. Just a flat piece of steel with a notch in it to fit the nut like a very skinny wrench. Other than that the thing does cut nicely.

I have a stihl fs40c. The hex in the plastic mold didn't fit over the nut. But a 3/8" washer fits perfect. It give you room to get a wrench to the shaft so you are able to twist the head on tight.

item priced low, but is not as well built as the original. Bolt and pins for the blades fall out if you not careful. It works great but i am not sure for how long.
