Glory Times

This is all mellow, gritty, vaguely-urban detective noir stuff. Just what I wanted from Portishead. It sounds the same played both quietly and loudly.It's difficult to find music like this. A little bit "piano bar after closing," a little bit "I knew the dame was trouble the moment she came into my office." Great stuff.

Too repetitive

I love this band. Always have. Just wish there was more. I would give this another star, but, that is reserved for "Dummy". Oh, i'm sure the drummer is insane. Nobody can keep a beat like that, unless you are insane.

Hard to find remixes and alternate versions of two great songs. If you are a fan of Portishead, this might be required listening.

not going to give a technical review, dont know how with music. the music is a little different and kind of like stoned, but cool. Maybe a little dark, but not like rap ugly, just sad sometimes. Still good voice she has.

This seller is awesome. The Portishead c.d. was brand new even though 20 years old. Awesome.

I found this interesting but not as enjoyable a listening experience as any of their other CD's. This CD sounds like a bunch of trial versions of songs rather than a polished finished product.

"Glory times" versammelt auf zwei CDs zwei Maxi-CDs zu den "Dummy"-Songs "Sour times" und "Glory box". Ersterer ist hier in der Dummy-Fassung nicht erhalten, zweiterer nur in einer gekürzten Version. Es finden sich jedoch Remixe bzw. neu eingespielte Versionen beider Songs, die meiner bescheidenen Meinung nach furchbar nerven, den Originalen nichts hinzufügen, eher im Gegenteil, sie zerstören den heiligen Glanz dieser fantastischen Großtaten der Band Portishead.Nicht uninteressant, aber auch nicht besonders herausragend, ist das Instrumentalstück "To kill a dead man", das mit den beiden oben genannten Songs nicht zu tun hat und hier als wirklicher Bonussong hinzukommt. Kurios ist der "Mudflap Mix" von "Glory box", der sich deutlich an Nirvanas "In utero"-Album anlehnt.Unterm Strich: Diese Zusammenstellung ist meiner Meinung nach ausschließlich etwas für Komplettisten und Sammler. Mir sind die Fünf-Sterne-Bewertungen hier ein Rätsel. In der unendlichen Debatte über die Sinnhaftigkeit von Remixen ist dieses Produkt eindeutig der Contra-Seite zuzuordnen.

Da kommen 2 Cds mit je ca 22 Minuten Spielzeit. Ungewöhnlich, war wohl nicht beabsichtigt. Wie auch immer: Passable Liveversionen; Aufnahmequalität nicht superb, aber gut in Ordnung. keine neuen Nummern, kann man also haben, muss aber nicht sein.

wer diese stimme und stimmung nicht in die tat umsetzen will sondern sie einfach nur hört und sich fallen lässt kommt verwundert nach ende der cd zu sich und ist beinahe frei

Ce n'est pas un album à part entière. En effet, ce sont des versions "alternatives" des chansons Sour times et Glory box de l'album Dummy. Il y a juste un morceau original qui est la musique d'un court métrage réalisé par le groupe en 1994 : To Kill A Dead Man
