A must-have for your routine if you use products containing silicones or have an oily scalp!
If you have oily hair and an oily scalp and/or especially if you use conditioning products containing silicones or other occlusive ingredients, then this product is for YOU. If you have dry hair and a dry scalp and/or very sensitive skin prone to irritation (although my skin is relatively sensitive, it doesn't bother me personally) and/or do not use products containing silicones then this shampoo might not be what you are looking for. Review: This shampoo has been very effective at preventing any buildup of oil and product on my very porous hair and oily scalp! It makes my hair feel very clean and soft without stripping it so much that it feels weak and squeaks on my fingers. The scent is a very mild acidic/citrus that I find very pleasant! The shampoo contains Alpha-Hydroxy Acid which is a great gentle chemical exfoliant popular in skincare that will leave your scalp feeling fresh and de-congested. The slightly acidic pH is also beneficial for your skin barrier and hair cuticle as these structures are naturally acidic. I am prone to acne on my scalp and this does a good job of preventing it. Usage Tips: Keep in mind that this shampoo is NOT intended to replace your regular shampoo, as it is still much too harsh to use every wash; only use this shampoo when your hair is feeling congested and heavy or once a week. A little goes a long way! Professional products like this tend to be pricier than drugstore not only because of higher quality ingredients, but they are typically more concentrated and not diluted with as much water; a nickel- to quarter-sized amount is plenty for me. Focus on massaging and working this product primarily into your scalp, as your mids and ends collect less buildup and oil and this will be a bit too harsh for them. Do not worry if the product does not foam aggressively, this means it is working! Rinse and wash gently a second time with a small amount of your regular shampoo before conditioning as normal.

A Must-Have for Swim Hair!
My girls swim regularly, and their hair tends to get dry, dull, and coated with chlorine and other pool chemicals. This Redken Detox Hair Cleansing Cream has been a total game changer! It removes all that buildup fast, leaving their hair soft, shiny, and healthy again after just one wash. I love that it’s affordable, works on all hair types, and has a fresh, clean scent that isn’t overpowering. It’s become a staple in our shower — I use it once a week on their hair to reset and revive it. Highly recommend to any swim moms (or anyone dealing with product or hard water buildup)!

Stunning results
A few days ago I wrote a stellar review for Redken Volume Injection Shampoo, actually with the same title. I felt that I needed to write a review for Redken Detox Hair Cleansing Clarifying Shampoo too, which I use together with the Injection Shampoo. As my earlier review of the Injection Shampoo relayed: this is a great product. However, I had been searching for a gentle yet effective clarifying shampoo because I often use an application of moringa or rosemary oil to condition my hair and stimulate the follicles. The oils are excellent, but even with three latherings, I was unable to get the oil completely out of my hair. By chance I read the review of the chef who said that working in a restaurant kitchen that is hot and uses lots of oils for cooking made getting his hair clean a challenge. But this product worked for him. So I tried it, and it works for me too!!! It effectively cleans my hair without stripping it, and leaves it shiny and manageable. Excellent job again, Redken. Thank you :-)

Not the Best Option for Oily, Itchy Scalp
Updated Review Jan 26: I used half the tube before deciding it was not the best product for my oily, itchy scalp. It will work fine on the grandkids more normal hair but leaves my hair flat and oily by the second day. For itchy scalp, I recommend Unwash Charcoal Detox Scalp Scrub. For oily scalp, I recommend K18 Peptide Prep. For conditioner, I recommend UNITE Hair 7second Detangler Leave-In Conditioner. My original from December 25, 2023: My hair is straight, fine, and not too thick. My scalp is oily, itchy and damaged from years in the sun. For the past two decades the shampoo that worked best for me has been Redken Solve Purifying Shampoo, 8.5 oz $33 on Ebay. I believe it was the clay-based formula that made it superior to other products. Redken discontinued it about the same time I started using it but, up to this year, I was still able to buy it for a reasonable price on ebay. When the price tripled, I was forced to find a replacement. Of the many products I have tried, here are the three top contenders: * Rene Furterer Curbicia Purifying Clay, 5 oz $34 * Redken Oil Detox Shampoo (AKA Hair Cleansing Cream), 8.5 oz $25 * Live Clean Mineral Clay Rebalancing Shampoo, 12 oz $5.49 I have tried all of the Rene Furterer shampoos, but Curbicia (also clay-based) is the only one strong enough for my oily scalp. It works as well as Redken Solve for giving me perfect hair on the first day and decent hair on days two and three. But it is expensive, even when I could get it on sale from England. I've only used the Redken Oil Detox shampoo twice but both times it cleaned well, left my hair very soft, and kept it looking good for two days. I would probably select it as my replacement if not for the price and I haven't found it cheaper anywhere else. Which leads us to the inexpensive but well formulated Live Clean Mineral Clay Rebalancing Shampoo. My hair looks good on the first day (not as soft as the more expensive products) and my scalp and hair seems fine on the second day. The triple clay combination should work well to both remove oils and decrease itching. Complaints from other reviewers were that they didn't like the smell (I do like it) and it was too drying. The best deeply clarifying shampoo
This shampoo gives you a super deep clean. I personally do not really like the lemon scent, it reminds me too much of cleaning chemicals. But the results are great so I do not mind the smell. I swim a lot in a pool, and our water is very hard. This shampoo is a must-have to remove hard water minerals, product buildup and pool chemicals. You will absolutely need a very intense conditioner after using this.

Highly recommend
I absolutely love this product. I would wash my hair over and over again and I wasn't able to get it to dry and not look oily. I have been using it and I don't think I will stop. My hair feels so clean and it's no longer oily.

See before and after pics ! Amazing!!
I bought Sunbabe viral highlighting kit for $125. Their blue tea toning mask literally turned my naturally blonde hair ann overall brassier ash, blue/ green / gray. It was horrible looking! They recommended using a clarifying shampoo and WOW!!! I am beyond impressed !! I used it 3 times in the last week (more washing than normal) to really get it out before a big event I have Saturday and I am so happy. Not only on the 3rd wash did it pull all of those ugly colors out of my blonde hair, but it made it so bright, silky, and CLEAN!!! Excellent product !

Its a good clarifier
It's a good clarifier it's pretty strong. I like it I don't love it. Maybe cuz I'm pouting a little bit because I miss apple pectin hair clarifying shampoo but since they don't make it anymore this has to suffice it's more of a cream base than a shampoo. It smells like a citrus wax. Not really a fan of that but again it did its job and it's fine.
