Very roomy without being too big.
Great bag for my chess set. I have a standard tournament sized set and the fit nicely in the two zippered pockets made for them. It holds my clock with room to spare. It is made of a durable nylon like material with solid zippers. It is light weight for its durability. The shoulder strap is a nice plus. There are places for pencils and a pad plus my silicone board, 22 inches wide, rolls up nicely and slips into two elastic loops at the top. Overall a great price for a great bag. There is even a place inside to slip in a business card or two. Glad I bought it.

Nice bag with lots of storage pouches
A good bag for the ($19.90 as I write this) price. The quality appears good, though I had to use scissors to remove a few dangling sewing strings. Let's jump right to the dimensions - later I've got some comments about the color: Chess Bag (Deluxe Chess Bag, Desert Camo, USCF): Dimensions: These are given from the perspective of the narrowest part of the bag, along 3 sides of which the zippers run, being the "depth." All dimensions are approximate, but within 1/4" of true: Outside: 23" long x 6.25" high x 2.5" deep. INSIDE Inside Length: 22+" long x 6" high x 2.25" deep. Note that "standard" 2.25" squares roll-up boards (vinyl, silicone, mousepad) are 20" long, 2.375" squares boards are 22" long, and 2.5" squares boards are 25" long. So this bag will hold 2.375" squares boards ok, though they're harder to find.than the 2.25" boards. Note that the USCF rules say that the diameter of the base of the King should be no more than 78% of the width of the squares. I've never seen that rule enforced, but it's a good rule of thumb to avoid too-big pieces that are difficult to properly move and set in place. This usually means Kings that are 4 1/8" high (often 1.85" diameter at the base) should go with 2.375" boards and sets with 3 3/4" high kings (often 1.75" diameters) go with the 2.25" boards. Along one side of the inside there are three pouches, each of which has a smoothly-working zipper than unzips both heights and the bottom length: A "Clock Pouch" in the middle with inside measurements of 8" long x 5" high x 2" deep - if necessary, one height could be unzipped to make a sleeve to hold a longer-than-8"-clock. Two pouches, one on each end (pieces. etc.) with inside measurements of 6" long x 5" high x 2" deep. Between the pouchs, at the top of the pouches, are two stretchable fabric loops for holding a rolled-up vinyl or silicone chess board, 4.5" in circumference that easily stretches to 6.5" without overstretching the fabric. They would comfortable hold boards rolled up to 1.5" to 2" in diameter. Note that the three pouches are only about 1/2 inch away from the top and bottom of the bag and there's roughly 1" between each pouch and the end pouches are about 1" away from the sides, so if you have a board rolled up or one stored along the bottom, the three pouches won't expand the full amount. Note that you can also fold silicone boards and they'll still open flat and without marks. Along the other side of the inside is a 5" high storage pouch that runs the entire length of the side and is held partially shut only by a small piece of velcro in the middle at the top. On the outside of this 5" high pouch are two storage items, one near each end of the length: There's a 4" long x 2.25" high "credit card" slot with clear plastic cover (mine came with a few inky stain streaks on the plastic), apparently for a copy of your USCF ID Card: ID, expiration date and membership type are needed for tournament registrations. On the other end is a 4" long x 1.25" high double pouch to hold 2 pencils/pens - personally I wouldn't risk damaging a rolled board by putting pencils/pens there! Other parts: There are two zippers, each of which begins at the bottom of each side. They appear solid and smoothly zip and unzip. The are two short straps on each side, 7.25" wide and, when held in your hand, extend less than 2" above the bag. There's a 3.25" wide velcro "coupler" in the middle of one strap so the two straps can be joined together. Additionally., there are (plastic unfortunately) connectors for a removable strap (included) where the short straps begin on opposite sides and opposite strap ends so that the bag will be "balanced" by the removable straps. The removable strap is adjustable with a max. length of about 32". It can be shortened to about 18." The strap's clips (plastic unfortunately) attach to the connectors about 10" apart. In other words, yes, you can sling it over your shoulder but around your neck and under your shoulder might be uncomfortable if you're a large person. COLOR: The color I got does NOT match the picture: mine is much darker and resembles the "Jungle Camo" pictured above and elsewhere, though the brighter part is a little brighter than jungle camo. The label on the plastic wrap mine came in reads "Desert Camo." Personally, I prefer the color I got: I ordered this because it was listed at $15, one left, and all the other colors were $19.90 - now a week later this one is $19.90 so maybe the color shown is what you'll get. Personally, I wanted a bag that won't show up minor scuff marks and dirt so a dark camo color works for me.

EXCELLENT bag for the price.
I think the bag is great. I just recently bought it so I can’t testify it’s durability under years of use but the compartments for the pieces and a separate compartment for a clock with the nylon harnesses for a vinyl board are really all I was looking for in a nice, compact, carryall bag that was also relatively low profile. The clock I have is a Chronos GX push button and it’s comparatively longer in length than most all clocks and it still fits in the compartment, albeit a tight fit so any other clock would fit just fine. It isn’t a luxury bag - and nobody can fault anyone for wanting luxury cargo for their set - buy for the price: super super excellent. I included these images for scale. I’m 6ft tall, so you’ll be able to extrapolate for your own body type.

4 Stars, Could Use Better Zippers
Keep in mind I'm probably being picky here about the zippers ; it's not a deal breaker. I'm just concerned these zippers are too small to last over time. BUT JUST make sure you don't rush when you close these zippers and you should be fine. BTW i'm talking about the main outside zippers. They can keep using the same zippers inside to keep the price down but I'm willing to pay a little more for better outside zippers. Seems like no one else out there makes this bag with better zippers. I like this green one I bought. I wanted to get the dark blue one but when you click the dark blue square you get a bag with a lighter shade of blue and so I thought the Green one looks better anyway. BTW WHO would buy any of these bags with polka dots ? lol You can clearly see how awesome this bag is and what others mentioned already. I just wanted to add it's a really nice touch that they added a pocket with a window the size of business card for your name and other info. It's also a really nice touch that they have 2 pen holders. Every compartment is roomy and in the middle pocket you could fit a small book on top of your chess clock for added protection. I actually carry 2 BOARDS ; my main sized board that everyone uses and also a board 3/4 the size of my main board with smaller pieces just so my friends can play a separate game and don't have to wait around to play the winner. I always keep this in my trunk so I'm always ready to play wherever I'm at. Overall this is an awesome bag at an awesome price and clearly a "must-have" for anyone who plays most of their chess away from home. I only wish for better zippers (just the main one) but being that the price is outstanding, it's almost a non-issue. I haven't had any problems yet and don't expect problems for me or anyone as long as you don't rush when closing these zippers. I imagine these are easy to fix anyway if any problem arises. BTW I almost forgot to mention the STRAPS are great because not only can you carry by hand but you can either carry the bag across your hip or along the back of your shoulder comfortably which is a nice "plus" I wasn't expecting.

Love it!
We tried a less expensive quiver chess bag. It was too small to fit Quadruple Weight pieces and a medium sized chess clock in the bag with the vinyl tournament board. This bag is PERFECT for our set! Plenty of space for our pieces, clock, board, pencils, mini clipboard, pad of scoresheets, and still room to spare! The space for the clock is very roomy for our medium clock. It could hold those larger clocks easily. Our pieces are large (4” King), with an extra Queen. It’s beautifully printed feather pattern is just what we wanted. The shoulder strap is long enough to wear it cross-body. Good because my 7yo needs the extra help to carry her heavy bag. It feels to be good quality and durable. Will update if we find this doesn’t hold up to usage. We just got it. And love it!

Where Strategy Meets Style
The House of Staunton Deluxe Chess Bag proves that carrying pieces to battle doesn’t have to look utilitarian. With its sleek design, clean lines, and thoughtful layout, it feels more like a tailored accessory than just a storage sack. Every pocket and zipper has purpose, giving off the same air of precision you’d expect from a grandmaster’s opening repertoire. Beyond the looks, it’s practical, good value, spacious enough for a full tournament set, durable in build, and comfortable to carry. But it’s the refined design that sets it apart: understated elegance that makes even a casual club night feel like an event.

Well Made Bag w/ Plenty of Room
I'm very happy about this purchase. At the same time I ordered this bag I ordered these items by Chess Geeks. 1) a set with quadruple weighted extra large pieces w/ extra queens and a red tournament vinyl board 2) a green tournament silicone board I wanted to make sure that I have a bag big enough to store all of them. This bag is 24 inch long and my boards are 20 inch long. The two compartments for the pieces are lightly padded to protect the pieces, and they are large enough for the extra large pieces w/ one extra queen for each color. I roll up two of the boards together and I can store both of them in the bag and still have more room inside. I'd read a review for a bag by another brand that complained its flimsy zipper, which made me cautious about this one; however, this is a good one. Shipping was great as well.
