One of her best!
Hidden on the Fens and the preceding one, Darkness on the Fens are so far my favorites. They show a maturity of writing that the others only strived for. I highly recommend both of them.

Another Great Read
I love Joy Ellis' books, particularly her DI Nikki Galena series. I enjoy the way the stories unfold and the way she continues in character development. This story continues the tradition of an outstanding crime, suspense and mystery novel by Joy Ellis'.

Definitely Stunning Twists!
My goodness, that was a plot to beat all plots. What a creation. Lots of dead bodies for poor, beleaguered Rory. Skipper was quite the hero and a character to watch for in the future. The writing, at times, was a bit wordy, melodramatic and could have used some tighter editing. Overall, a good, enjoyable read. On to the next...

Love Niki!
Great read, although it stretches believability at times, perhaps. Love the series! As a member of Kindle Unlimited, wish more of the author’s novels were available as “listen & read.”

Nikki Galena’s Last Case is a classic
This is every bit as absorbing as the other books about Nikki Galena and her band of brothers. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was it seemed to get started a little slowly, although the pace picked up smartly towards the middle as the case ramified into more and more threads so that it was a challenge to keep so many characters straight. I was expecting there to be a connection between the killings of young women and the sexual abuse of widows and there didn’t seem to be unless I missed it. While it’s true to reality that detectives can be working more than one case at a time, this is part of what makes the book gather speed more slowly. Still, there is much to like in this book. The bad guys are actually psychologically realized characters, not a common feature in mysteries, and the local color of the fens is almost like another character. Galena and Easter continue as a close knit, able team with several supporting characters with their own stories. It’s another good one.

Hidden Cabins and Bodies
What a hard to put down read! It led to several long evening reads for sure leading toa rather surprising end. I look forward to more exciting books about life on the fens!

Another Winner
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Nikki Galena series from book 1. Book 11, Hidden on the Fens, brings back our favorite characters as they tackle a particularly nasty set of crimes. This is also Dave last case before retirement, and he wants to go out in style, sending a sinister man down for good. Will he achieve this before he’s done???Meanwhile Nikki and Easter are managing a cold case that has heated up into new crimes. There are signs pointing them left, right and center, but will they be able to negotiate the curves to get a result???Another winner in this series with the twists and turns I come to expect

excellent!
The Nikki Galena series books never fail to keep me intrigued… this one was especially good. Twist and turns till the very end, a real who done it. Can’t wait for the next one.

Woohoo, they’re back!
Nikki, Joseph, Cat, Dave, Niall and Tamsin, Ben and Vonnie, Rory of course plus a brief cameo by Eve - great stuff. We’ve all got to know these characters, their struggles, personalities, interactions and foibles over the years. Now, they’re all so close they’re more of a family than a team. This is a get comfy, get the tea and biscuits, ignore the phone and dive in sort of book. Suspend any disbelief, don’t fret about police procedure or who would really do what. Just wallow happily in a rollicking good read, a healthy dose of mystery and thrills, the occasional curve ball of plot twist, plenty of dark deeds by the baddies (boo hiss) and plenty of heroics and decency by our heroes and heroines.Joy Ellis is very, very good at luring us in, getting us involved, teasing us then scaring us, making us want to ignore everything and carry on reading right till the very last page, even if it is 1am and we really should get some sleep. This is book 11 and I’ve read them all, enjoyed every one - roll on book 12!

Good, but...
Enjoyed this book, but not as much as the previous ones in the series. All was good until about 20% from the end when the plot was a bit unbelievable and silly. Unfortunately I lost interest after that and just skimmed the rest of the book.

80% good 20% terrible
I've loved this series of books but 80% into this or chapter 31 I think, it felt like the writing had been handed over to someone else with no clue. Actually found myself upset and grumpy by how crappy the plot went from then in. Drastic drop in quality. Will not be continuing with the series even though I got pretty attached to the characters. This killed it for me.

Creepy !
I have loved all the "Fens" books and this one is no exception, probably one of the best. DI Nikki Galena and her team are obsessed with Justice. She has three cases running together, a murder (cold case) , missing persons and a serious assault. These are all set to the background of a very large old house and some trees. This is a brilliantly written story, fast moving with the occasional setbacks. Nikki Galena and her DS Joseph Easter manage to combine work with home life -- two heads are better than one ! The story is gripping, hard to put down. There's the complicated family, more bodies, "innocent" prisoner just released and very creepy woods. Police get injured , the "innocent" is proven guilty. An excellent story, a must read for Joy Ellis fans. A very surprising ending!! Thanks J.E. Next one please!!

Another twisting plot to keep you reading
I'm not sure how the writer does it, I've enjoyed all the books so far, they have all been different, well written and this one is up there with some of the stories as having a plot that doesn't reveal itself and come together till the very last word.Lots of twists and turns, to keep you reading and to bring it all together, to finally understand who did what, why and how.As mentioned in previous reviews all books are a complete story cover to cover, so could be read in any order, however there are a few characters, who's story winds in and out, linking together and their story within this story would make more sense if read in order. Can't wait for the next book. Enjoy., Probably the best so far.
