A Competitor to Tilda Easy Cook Basmati?... Does it Measure Up?
Finally, a competitor to Tilda. It almost deserves 5 stars just for attempting to compete with Tilda. Tilda appears to be enjoying a monopoly in the "Easy Cook Basmati" department. So some competition is good. Does it measure up? The taste of Tilda is consistent. The texture is great and Tilda has a nice bite to it. Tilda has a nice aroma. So how does this compare? The aroma of this one, The Continental Supreme appears to very slightly miss the mark. There is a strong aroma, but is it a nice aroma? Well, my 8 year old son said that it smells "funny". Now, it could be that he is used to the Tilda "Sella" or "Easy Cook" Basmati and that is all he has ever known as "rice" his entire time on this planet. But the point is, he just whined about this rice being nor quite right. So I have taken off a star for all the whining at the table this rice introduced. It also requires much more rinsing than Tilda does. Lastly it looks too white to be proper Sella (pre fluffed/easy cook/parboiled). I expect Sella rice to have a yellow tint. Tilda has this yellowish tint. that comes from the husk during the parboiling process. Anyway, I am glad Tilda has a competitor in this niche category. Thanks for Reading.
