Go New Zealand...
DK Eyewitness Travel guides can provide a visually rich, information-packed introduction to any destination, and this guide to New Zealand doesn't disappoint. It embellishes a concise travel narrative with lots of color photos, illustrations, maps, graphics, and diagrams. The guide is arranged in the standard DK format, with an introduction to New Zealand, followed by surveys of the North and South Islands, basic travelers needs, and a survival guide. Key points for planning a visit from the US include the one to two days travel just to get there. New Zealand is a surprising large and diverse country offering habitats ranging from the sub-tropical to the sub-Antarctic, and lots inbetween. There are several substantial cities, including Auckland and Wellington. If travel to Christchurch on the South Island is planned, visitors may wish to check ahead since that area is still recovering from a devastating earthquake. The South Island does offer spectacular mountains and fjords, while North Island has beaches and marine life reserves, and the whole has an interesting mixture of British and Maori culture.Given the size of New Zealand, visitors would be wise to plan ahead in moving around and between North and South Island. The guide offers recommendations that can enable travelors to prioritize their most favored attractions and activities. The guide includes websites for followup information. "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide New Zealand" is very highly recommended as a planning and touring resource.

The essential travel book for New Zealand
DK's travel books are full of great pictures and usefull information that enable you to narrow down your choices while planning a trip. I used this guide to choose the places I would visit during a three week trip to New Zealand's north and south islands in early 2014. The descriptions and pictures, plus the handy distance guides, helped me figure out how many days I would spend in each place, and the travel times between each place. It's not a great resource for hotels (you can do that all online anyway), but they have enough information in them to make a purchase well worth the money.

One of the best most up-to-date guides on New Zealand
As someone who was not only born and raised in New Zealand but has lived all over the country and traveled most of it, I found this guide to be full of great information on the things to see and do. It is one of the best guides I have found out there for those traveling to New Zealand and also the most up-to-date guide. I give this book to my clients with their travel documents when they are heading to New Zealand. Very quick and easy to find the information needed. I like the snippets of valuable information they give in their book, along with lots of amazing photos. Most of the guide books out there are lots and lots of writing. This one while it has lots of writing, but it is the way it is presented that makes this guide amazing.

Good Guide
Very informative for planning your trips. I used this book a lot to determine tours and where to go on shore excursions for each of the towns, cities we visited. It also served us well when we did personal day trips in smaller towns. The one recommendation I would give cruise ship travelers in New Zealand is that most of the cruise ships do not dock in the ports of most places, they dock in the commercial ports because they are too big. none of the books show this part of town, so pick up a map when you depart, these books do not show you this part of town or even tell you this. Almost all of the ports will have free transport to the central or main locations in the cities.

Excellent guide
This guide is very comprehensive and helpful. I love the pictures and drawings of various attractions, locations, etc. Interestingly, this guide was given as an apology gift to several people on my recent tour of NZ, to compensate, in part, for muffed flight arrangements! I certainly recommend this guide for trip planning; I will also be using it to relive my trip and to identify photos I took!

DK Eyewitness Travel Guide New Zealand
I love the book. Very easy to find out information. I like the map locator with numbers that coordinate with the detailed paragraphs about what is in that area. The street locator maps are great for cities. The cut always of the key buildings in a city are fun to look at. The bright colored pictures make everything more interesting.I wish the text print was a darker black or a different font. The lighting in hotels is often dim making the guide book hard to read.

Disappointing lack of info, though pretty pictures
While the book has pretty pictures and some decent maps, it's basically useless for trip planning or determining what to do or where to go once you're there. Very limited information, and doesn't come near the breadth of details or places that other guidebooks cover. Very disappointed that I spent so much on it.

Great guide for New Zealand
Beautiful guide printed on quality paper and loaded with good information. We have read it in anticipation of our upcoming New Zealand trip but it is so useful that we will be taking it with us also. We had seen an older version of the guide in a local library but we wanted to get the most up to date info and a copy that we could take with us.
