Two hours of sleep.
Tracking activity through the narrative shows that the MC probably gets only 2-3 hours of sleep per night, if that, but still keeps traveling and fighting without slowing down.Other than that little detail is a good read in an interesting setting. Looking forward to more.

This series is improving
I found this book even better than the first 2. Our main character Hex is still not the brightest lamp on the wall (he hasn't risen enough to be a mote in the sky yet.) but he's developed into a good solid hero. Sure he's slow to act and seems capable of the most basic mistakes possible at times, but his heart is in the right place and you can understand the affection he gets from Sorcha and Freya. The goal of this entire adventure remains getting to some island on the west coast of the continent that is clearly based on the former USA, but this tale doesn't make it out of Pennsylvania. At the same time it finds new and interesting character interactions and developments. With villains who aren't merely red robed mages teleporting in to start another pointless fight with the hero. (I swear that its clear the main baddie in this series hasn't read the Handbook of the Evil Overlord since they keep sending out small teams rather than throwing their whole might at eliminating Hex and his friends.)This story avoids a lot of that adding in new twists and expanding the world a bit. We get to see Hex, Sorcha and Freya all grow as characters as we learn a bit more about how magic works and how this world is still a crazy post-apoc dystopia. Its worth reading and i'm looking forward to reading book 4 when it comes out which is unusual for me and this genre. Strong 4 stars.

It's okay
My big problems are the chapter lengths and the slow pace for important things to happen. Most of the chapters generally run 30-45 minutes or more leaving me longing for a break in the scene while the first half of the book made a point to include either the build-up to or a climax inevitably at the end of each. It left me exhausted and wanting something important to happen to justify the number of climaxes I had to work through. Worst part is that seems to be Jacobs writing style or at least the format chosen for this series.

Good adventure
Still a fun series. I'm glad that the pace has slowed and the group can breath and help others. Random acts of kindness and all that. I had hope to see more of their powers being improved and learned about it throughout the journey. Perhaps one becoming a fun bunny ๐. The sex is somewhat detailed but no harem yet... It is minor to the adventure and not awkward. I expect more ladies I. The future perhaps with some more abilities to bolster the group. The fun with the Amish and how easily religion can be perverted for personal gain was an interesting adventure. Can't wait for more.

Another Great Book
Hex, Scorha, Charles and Freya are on the road for Scranton. On the way they are harassed by Mages fight some kind of Tar beasts invading a small town and a strange group of Amish that are deceived by fire mage posing as an angel. It is quite the adventure! If you like well written characters and a story line that will keep you turning pages you'll enjoy this series, I strongly recommend it.

Awesome
They sure do get sidetracked, was a little disappointed that Darwin didnโt have an AR-15 to add to gun mages Arsenal . Doing pretty well with what heโs got and reload a construct with more bullets seems to work in keeping gun around longer. On to book 4, highly recommended series

Best one yet
A couple of new guns and creatures. More action and interesting take on a religious community. I know this is a slow burn harem but it needs to pick it up some on that front. Loved Barnaby. Hope there can be a little less action so the Mc can explore his abilities and try to improve them while they travel.

Certainly interesting
I definitely enjoyed reading this one, and it was definitely worth reading. And in general kept me interested from start to finish, Barnaby certainly an interesting addition to the story. Looking forward to the next one.
