18 films * Universal Studios Home Ent. * W.C. Fields Comedy Essential Collection * English SDH
For $25! About $1.38 per movie. Unbeatable value. This collection is jam packed with W.C. Fields anecdotes and one-liners. Many quaint and charming stories with the hilarity that W.C. Fields adds. "Tillie and Gus" reminded me of the "Popeye" movie. Baby Leroy, like Sweet Pea, getting in hazardous situations. But it has it's own interesting storyline. "If I had a million" has a separate storyline for each recipient of a million $. Some sad, funny, or touching. My favorite was May Robson's part, a triumphant ending! On "International House" the clip with Baby Rose Marie is the Rose Marie from "The Dick Van Dyke Show"! I had no idea she began her career so young! These old movies are so informative about the beginnings of some actors. I especially like "You're Telling Me"-wonderful plot. "Man on the Flying Trapeze", isn't about a circus performer, but shows how his life is so up and down, he feels like a man on a trapeze. All these movies are delightful and have their own merits. Definitely recommend.

A veritable fountain of Fields
I picked this up on Amazon for a good price and much less than it was when it first appeared. I was pleased with the picture quality, considering how many movies were crammed onto each disc. I'm keeping my two volumes of W.C. Fields that kept out years ago, but this collection works well for some of his lesser films like "Mississippi" or "Big Broadcast of 1938." It is also nice to have so much Fields together in one collection. I do wish Universal would do for Fields what they recently did for the Marx Brothers and create a nice blu ray collection. His movies seem to be in better condition and without the cuts that plagued some of the Marx Brothers best Paramount features.Until a blu ray set comes out (and I'm not holding my breath), this is the most complete Fields set in the U.S. Although there are four movies to a disc, the picture quality is still quite good. It's also cheaper than buying individually some of the Fields films that weren't included in previous collections.

The Best W.C. Fields Collection Ever!
The best W.C. collection I've seen out there --- and for only $20! The only major film missing here that I can think of is "David Copperfield", with W.C. doing an excellent Micawber. Also missing are cameos in "Alice In Wonderland" and a film he did at the end of his career (his last film appearance I believe) in which he re-creates his famous pool routine at a USO show. Other than that, all the classic and lesser-known W.C. films are here (18 total) in very good video and audio quality for a pittance, mere peanuts. So step right up ladies and gentlemen and avoid disappointment! They're going fast so order yours today before they disappear --- (go away kid, you bother me.)

A worthwhile collection.
As a film collector I appreciate having most of W.C. Fields' films in one package. Some of the films gathered here are not exactly vehicles for Mr. Fields but he is always the stand-out performer in each one. I'm not too disappointed that there are few extras in this set but, after all, I purchased it for the films. The quality of the films may not be pristine in all cases but they should satisfy the fan of this character's talents. I recommend purchasing this product.

Classic comedy films
I somehow believe today, with all of the woke cancellations, that movies like the ones in this set may just disappear. My advice is to buy it and hide it. Show them to youngsters. Explain to them what comedy really was instead of the crap out there today.

18 movies- 21 Hours
Thoroughly enjoy his talent and humor as the main actor and bit parts in this collection of movies from the 1930's. Very good quality and sound. Definitely a great value to add to my collection of comedy.

Lots of great WC Fields movies in one purchase
I’m a lifelong WC Fields fan. All the movies I like best are in this collection plus several more. I sat right down and watched It’s a Gift. I love that one. It’s a completely enjoyable set of DVDs, a great way to get away from all the difficult and crazy real world for awhile.
