Not for starting off with a straight blade
Got this for that old school look. The feel of it doesn’t feel to durable... the keeper that locks the blade into place feels sketchy. It slides up and down on the two pieces that keeps the blade secure and after getting wet I get paranoid that it will fall out. What I do like is that it takes double sided razors and is convenient to just flip the blade when you feel the blade getting dull. The way it fits in your hand is really comfortable but I would like to see it get a little heavier. Overall I would love to give this a 4 or 5 if these issues got fixed or modified. Shipping was on time and matched what was stated at check out.

Clip to hold the clamp closed isn't great. Otherwise, awesome way to shave!
My first "Shavette." I've never used one, or a straight razor, before. I'm loving it! Closer shave than a cartridge razor, and easier to shape my beard than even an old-school safety razor. It took two or three shaves to stop scraping/cutting myself, but it was never very bad. I've done worse with the cartridge style razors (don't drink and shave, kids!). Pro tip, just lay it flat against you skin and slide it -- well, almost flat. I use it once a week, after showering, no cream or hot towel, just to shape my beard and shave my neck and cheekbones. I follow up with the alum block, then rinse that off and finish with aloe vera. Luxurious! Makes me feel purty. I use an old-school safety razor to clean things up during the week.Only complaint is the little clip to hold the clamp closed over the blade slides too easily. Tightening the little screws is a pain, and either doesn't work or gets too tight. I keep reaching for my mini-pliers to adjust the tension. Not a deal-breaker, though, if you tighten the little screws and just don't bump it while you're shaving.
