I had a johnson rotary level and reciever. The reciever would work intermittent , take batteries out and wait a few hours. I got sick of that. Looked up a replacement reciever, the same exact, and it was 140.00. This one was cheaper and it works flawlessly. It feels more robust. I have a display in both sides. The beep is loud incan hermit over my equipment. Definitely recommend. I hope it outlasts the johnson. Very happy. Now I can get back at it without the wait.

When this laser detector arrived, I put batteries in it and it worked with my DeWalt laser level. I used it to check the grade of my driveway. It was dark at night and it worked 30 feet from the laser level.When I tried to use it in daylight on a job site, it would not work beyond 2 feet. I waited for the sun to set, it worked to 20 feet.I used a pine stick and could see the green laser light 150 feet away, in daylight. The target indicator (not electronic) worked just as well at 150 feet.

Matched up with our laser .battery lasts longer very precise. Easy to use . Great for the price

It works ok , but dosnt have a solid tone for level

The specs say it only works to 100ft, which seems odd for a laser receiver (ie: the distance capability should come from the laser transmitter, not the receiver...), so I wanted to double check it once I got it. I just measured out to 600ft with my johnson 40-6515 rotary laser level. My terrain only allowed me to measure to 600ft, and I think that's also about the max of the johnson level, so I suspect this receiver could have gone further.Also, I believe I read a review saying that the tone was the same for "too high" and "too low", but that isn't the case, at least with my model. It's a fast beep when you're too low, and a slow beep when you're too high.Also, the volume is adjustable which is nice. There are only two things I would change:* I wish it took AA's instead of 9v* I wish the back display was lit up with bright green/red arrows, instead of the small monochrome display so I could lash it to my mini ex and see the display easier.But hey, for 60 bucks, it's hard to complain, and I would buy it again.
