The LTM3 is a great alternative to the LTM6 for those who don't want a large brim...
As any Tilley aficionado knows, the T3 style hat has been a staple in their lineup for many years. I bought my first one (in canvas) back on my honeymoon in 1996 and it was my introduction to Tilley hats. I wore that hat for 12 years and it was literally falling apart by the time I retired it!! Many good hours of enjoyment out of that hat.A few years back, Tilley innovated and came up with an LTM6, which was made of nylon, had the air venting strip on the top, and had a longer brim configuration similar to the T4 though not as long. This hat became a HUGE seller for Tilley. To capitalize on the popularity, Tilley then made the T3 hat in this same vented nylon configuration --- and called it the LTM3. I like the fact they kept the patented T3 "snaps" on the side.... that is what makes the T3 unique.Personally, I have always been a BIG fan of the T3 configuration over all others - besides this LTM3 I currently own three T3 Canvas hats (one well worn one for yard work, one for hiking and one put away new), plus I also own a T3 in the nylon / camo configuration. I also own the LTM6 which I like, but I like this LTM3 better due to the more circular and smaller brim, the side snaps, and how the brim does not get in the way for certain activities. The LTM6 is great for when I go on hikes or activities where there is lots of sun and I want to maximize sun coverage due to the larger brim, which extends more over the back of the neck. But for most other activities I like the LTM3 as the brim "gets out of the way" better and I like having the option of the snap up sides. For example, did you ever sit on a couch or high back chair with an LTM6 (or T4)? Or how about wear a high fitting backpack with the LTM6 or T4? They simply get in the way as the longer brim makes contact and moves the hat. With the T3, this is not as much of a problem.Bottom line is I love all my Tilley hats, but tried to give some plus and minus for the LTM3 vs LTM6 above. If forced to choose one between the two, for me it would be the LTM3 hands down, but again I am a T3 fan. But I still love my LTM6! The snaps on the side of the LTM3 are a bonus for me also.NOTE: I actually returned the hat I bought from Amazon - it arrived in an envelope and crushed to the point of no return. It was probably stored for extended periods crushed as the brim had permanent creases in it - the kind that don't work out over time or with water. I own 15 Tilley hats, and know all the tricks on how to bring them back to new, but it IS possible to ruin one if you leave it stored mashed up for too long. Sometimes I get disappointed at how sellers store / ship these - they are still $85 hats and the way they are handled does not always show the respect a hat of this price should command.I ended up purchasing one from another seller and it was fine... they also shipped it in a box and had it stored correctly.I wholeheartedly recommend this hat. Thanks for reading.

Absolute best hat available today
I've been buying Tilly hats (this model) for many years. Way back when they had that little note in the pocket that said if you lose or damage beyond repair your Tilly hat, they would send you a new one for half price. These hats are great! Not only do I and most of my friends think they LOOK sharp, but they are very functional. That is the reason I bought my first one, and never looked back. They are my umbrella when it rains... they keep the Sun off my head but are not necessarily so hot that you don't want to wear it. I like that you can bunch it up in a ball, stuff it in your coat pocket or down the inside of a sleeve, and when retrieved, this hat bounces right back to its original shape. Can't say enough about this Tilly hat. Five FULL stars and I highly recommend.

Still a good value even out of china
Businesses are competitive and perhaps the China manufacturing gives a price edge. This is our world today. This is my fourth Tilley hat. I started with the original canvas hat in 1995 and still have it. I just retired my nylon LTM5 hat purchased in 2014-- it was warn extensively and was washed at least 100 times-I gave it to my grandson and he likes it. A great hat. I also had a TMH55 but my wife likes it more than me so she wears it. This new LTM3 is made in China and on close exam looks fine. The stitching, fit,, dimensions, visual, material, color-- all good. Someone mentioned the crown was round vs oval-- it is oval, this LTM3 I have looks identical to the LTM5 except for the snaps on the brim and the material is slightly heavier. The size of 7-3/8 fits me properly just like all the other hats. A solid thumbs up.

Finally - A hat that works
Here in Michigan hats are used as an umbrella of sorts. Keeps the sun off, keeps the rain off, keeps your hands free. In the winter they are a must. My original Tilley is a great shape for kayaking or riding the pontoon. The thing is, on the sunniest days it gets pretty warm. It does a nice job of keeping the rain off, though. The baseball type caps are easy to come by but don't keep the sun off the ears and neck and just protect bald spot from rain. I saw the Tilley LTM3 Airflo hat and thought, if it does what it's supposed to it's my hat.I've had it almost 4 months. Paddled with in in Northern Michigan. Wore it at a football game in the rain. Took it to Mexico on vacation. Now I'm not planning on this being my favorite ice fishing hat, but it has performed excellently in all other applications. I did feel a rain drop once which probably came through the ventilation, but considering the downpour I was in it was insignificant. I didn't feel like I was perspiring any more with the hat than I would have without. The only thing I would caution one about is keeping an eye on it. When in Mexico in the past the peddlers in the market would call to my wife, "hey lady, come look at my stuff" and other such promotions. This trip it was "hey lady, come look at . . . hey mister, how much for the Tilley?" I got the feeling it would disappear quickly if I left it unattended for a moment.

style changed
I bought this as a replacement for my original (2011) hat and, although it has the same product number and is the same in every other way, the new hat is actually deeper than the original. The hat is GREAT! the two straps have held it on even in very windy conditions; it is a breeze to machine wash and dries in minutes. I thought I had lost the original but it showed up after the replacement was delivered. I'm keeping the new one anyway.
