I am restoring an 1880's house and the original weathervane was lost over time. I purchased this bracket to go along with the new weathervane and it worked great! It was easy to use and the price was right. It was sturdy enough to handle a large weathervane.

I had to give this product and the seller a great review. We ordered this because the weathervane description did not say that a mounting bracket came with it. I was sorry to return it! Frankly, I nearly used this bracket instead of the matching bracket because this is SO much better! It is made of THICK solid aluminum that has been anodized and powder coated. That makes for a VERY durable, weather and UV resistant finish. Although it is heavy-duty, the aluminum construction makes it lightweight, so it would be easy to tote up to the roof in a bucket. It has TWO screws to secure the post instead of one. The hinged plates allow it to conform to any roof pitch. That's a HUGE benefit since normally, you have to physically bend the mounting plate to fit the peak of your roof. Not only that, but this dual hinge system makes it MUCH easier to get the post PLUMB. Just attach two small magnetic levels to the post before you set the second baseplate. The levels should be at 90 degrees to each other. That allows you to instantly see when you find plumb. Screw the plate down and you're done! It comes with mounting screws too! I am a cheapskate by nature and lifelong practice. Even so, I think this is a bargain price for super high-quality.

Easy to install, I'm so happy I found this. Now you can buy an antique weathervane anywhere and not worry if it doesn't have a bracket (they usually don't). Easy to measure and mount.

Works well, very sturdy. Mounting plates could be a little larger, and the mounting screws it came with need to be longer. I had to substitute much longer and larger screws. The box included some extension rods that are completely ignored by the instruction sheet. Looks like they can be used to extend the mounting plates further from the center mounting pole.

I placed this on a four point aluminum gazebo roof. I only used the two point bracket because of concerns with the four point angles. The two point worked very well. We had very high winds (40 mph) during a storm and the weathervane and bracket have held up well. I definitely would buy again. The pads are very adjustable and it was easy to install. I would recommend you use a small level to make sure that the bracket is sitting perfectly straight when mounting. Otherwise, the weathervane will no turn correctly.
