I love the lamp but the instructions are AWFUL. I mean, truly terrible. Three of us each tried, taking about 30 minutes each before giving up. Only after watching a youtube video could we assemble.As a 20 year member of Amazon I rely on independent reviews when shopping and I will always try to be as honest and impartial as I can and will try to provide helpful insight into the product. I purchased two of these lamps.... One 16" and one 12"...They added a beautiful dimension to my loft apartment and when coupled with the Phillips Hue Lights (colored) they absolutely rock and steal the show. I love all the colors that come through the lamp shade... so many options!!! But they are also nice with just the white light...It comes with all the necessary components to put it together and use right away. The 16 inch came with a part that I could wire into the ceiling so I just purchased a separate long cord to be plugged directly into the wall.I will say that the directions on how to assemble the lampshade leaves a lot to be desired especially for a visual like myself. However, I went onto youtube and found a great tutorial where the guy not only explains but shows how it goes together step by step. If it hand not been for that video I might have thrown in the towel. I tried to provide the link in an earlier review but Amazon kicked it back...

I bought a large one for a shade first, just to see how hard the puzzle was. It is complex, but once you get the hang of it, it's super easy and fun. This is my 2nd light that I bought to light my inside my closet, and it's bright enough to see everything.Spoiler for assembly:1. Put only like corners together, hook only notched to notched, straight to straight2. Put only short rounded side against long sides, and long sides to short rounded sides.Just follow the above all the way around, it practically builds itself, and assembly takes 15 minutes or less. Super happy with this, and a great price too!

Perfect for for my needs. Building a secondary workstation in our home office closet, required an additional light source. Wanting something that provided all around illumination (allowing us to see the shelves flanking both sides of the closet) without blinding us when seated, I knew I wanted something in the lantern family but was not thrilled with the idea of traditional cheap paper lanterns. I rolled the dice with this one given the material is plastic and it looks unique.After reading the other reviews, I knew to look for an assembly tutorial on YouTube. With the video and a bit of patience assembly was straight forward.The assembly process is a testament to the quality of the piece. I fully expected to have at least one tear or permanent crinkle somewhere (with the bending, pulling, tugging required to piece the lamp together). To my pleasant surprise, the finished result lended no flaws.Start to finish, assembly required ~20 minutes.After sticking a hue white bulb in the fixture and hanging it, I have to say that I could not ask for more; given the all in price of less than $35 (lamp + hue white bulb).I should add that the fixture requires a standard base bulb (which was not referenced in the description). I used a Phillips hue a19 white bulb.The dimension and layering of pieces to form the completed project makes the lamp look far superior than the typical sash or hanging fixtures.The extra long power supply and included hanging hardware sealed the deal on the 5 star review.

Okay, so I am giving it 5 stars because when assembled, it does look just like the picture and is the perfect addition to my reading nook. The quality is good and everything came in ship-shape condition. Continue reading....However, if I could give the assembly of it separate stars, I would give it a 2. Everyone in the reviews said how easy it was and the instructions said it would take 15 minutes.....Like ****!!!!!! It took both me and my husband over an HOUR to put this one lamp (all 30 pieces) together. My husband has a degree in physics. We could have done it in far less time, BUT the YouTube video linked on the product description is no longer working - that video was removed, AND the instructions printed in China are about impossible to interpret. The first two or three steps are doable, though it took A LOT of practice before getting the hang of it. Steps 4 and 5? Oh. My. Word. I thought we were going to have to rig that thing. Finally, my husband had his "aha" moment (I had given up long ago) and we finally completed my modern lighted masterpiece. Done. It is now hanging gloriously above my head.

I love, love, love this lighting fixture. I looks really good with the bulb inside of it lit. But I haven't been so frustrated putting it together in I don't know how long, years...The youtube video recommended was no good. It took me awhile to finally find some decent videos. There is a front and a back, a right and a left to the pieces which is rarely explained. I would like to get another one but I'm not sure if I want to go through putting another one together, even though I did finally figure it out.

Oh my gosh! I LOVE this lamp! It was so confusing to assemble and the directions were terrible, so I ventured to YouTube and looked up “how to put together a puzzle lamp”. Look for the pink and white colored puzzle lamp videos on YouTube! Those seriously made more sense! I was able to put it together within minutes after watching YouTube videos. The cord and light socket that came with it is obviously a heavy duty quality type and it’s sturdy. that doesn’t mean it’s for outdoor use, so please don’t even think of taking it outside! It’s a beautiful lamp and so perfect. I can’t wait to make another one!
