Wow.......
I always use filter water in my kettle so that helps reduce the lime scale but you will always get some. Last used another brand a few months ago that you had to boil the kettle to use. Didn’t fully remove the lime scale so was a little apprehensive when I read the instruction on the Durgol bottle saying to use it cold. Followed the instruction simply to cover the affected area with the liquid and then leave for up to an hour. No boiling, just covered the bottom of the kettle. Within 10 minutes the base was clear of limescale. Nothing left. Completely clean. Hence the “wow”. Left it for 30 minutes before rinsing. Clean as the day it was taken out of the box. Fantastic product and certainly worked for me.

Definitely does the job
This is the best cleaner I have ever used for cleaning shower doors. Completely removes limescale staining with very little effort and leaves them sparkling and looking like new. Great for cleaning shower heads and hoses too.

Durgol works wonders!
This is the best product I've ever used to descale coffee and kettle. They come out beautifully clean and shiny and stay that way for longer. Used also in Japanese style toilets. Very happy with durgol

This is the descaler recommended for the Moccamaster.
Fortunately I don't have to descale often as I live in a soft water area and use a filter jug. But on the few occasions that I have using a cheap supermarket product I have been alarmed at the acrid fumes, smell and corrosive nature of it. It therefore seemed sensible to buy the recommended descaler for my lovely new Moccamaster, especially as the maker warns that using the wrong one can permanently taint the coffee. (It's citric acid reacting with the copper element does the damage.) It was far more difficult than I expected to work out which Durgol product to get so I ended up watching a lot of Utube and downloading many safety sheets. I finally reassured myself that this was the one Technivorm said to buy for the filter machine and couldn't see there was much difference between it and the more expensive alternatives, apart from in the packaging. You get 750ml in this big bottle for less than the cost of two little prepacked 250ml doses. I wanted to have it handy for the day I needed it but feel quite confident that out of all the options available it was relatively good value, wont ruin my machine and seems less noxious and vicious than many. I will update this as soon as I have used it but thought it would be useful to confirm that this is the recommended descaler for the Moccamaster to save any confusion, hopefully save people some money and to lessen plastic use.

Not great VFM
Expensive for what it is, a weak acid. Need to use a lot of it. Will go back to heavily diluted hydrochloric acid again once the DIY stores reopen.
