we decided to buy this Gourmet Electric Pressure Cooker BT900XL5 because two of my coworkers have recommended to us
After a lot of research, we decided to buy this Gourmet Electric Pressure Cooker BT900XL5 because two of my coworkers have recommended to us. Both of them have used this cooker for over a year now. On boy, I have to say that, after a few trials, I am very delighted. For most of my life, I have used stove top pressures and I have two of them just right now. After trying this electric pressure cooker, however, I don't think that I will ever use these stove top ones again. There is simple no comparison in every sense. While I could not live without a stove top pressure cooker because it cooks really fast, I am always afraid of it exploding in my face. I heard horrible stories about pressure cooker accidents. And the noisy steam during cooking does make my mind ease. BT900XL electric pressure cooker comes with safety features that will never allow the bad accidents happen. First, the floater vale on top of the lid prevents the lid from being opened when pressure is high inside. and the cooker is completely quiet during the cooking. The lack of steam during cooker is not only just for quietness, it also makes the cleaning very easy because the cooker is very clean after cooking. I am surprised how clean even the lid in contact with the food is. There is no steam to polluting my kitchen as well. Finally, because the cooker keeps the steam inside, the steam is used as energy to cooker to food so the energy efficiency is very high. I noticed that during the cooking, the cooker only heats occasionally. When the cooking is finally done, when I open the lid, there is a lot of steam, the small is good, the food is moist, all the nutrition is kept inside. I'm finding that everything that comes out of a pressure cooker simply tastes better, even simple potatoes and carrots! It's a learning curb with the timings, but once you "get it" I think most anyone would agree that food tastes better when cooked in a pressure cooker. The cooker has many functions that I can chose. What I like most is that i can just sit it and forget it. The cooker is completely automatic. it cookers and it keeps warm after cooking. It has present function for me to set up cooking for breakfast when I go to bed at night. It really could not be more convenient than this.So far I am loving this pressure cooker. It's extremely user friendly and appears to be very good quality. It performs as described. I look forward to trying new recipes plus using it along side my stove top cooker.

Works OK for Me and For My Wife's Caregiver
I bought two at once based on good review. I gave one to my wife's caregiver to save her time when she gets home from taking care of my wife. She used it the first night she got it and pushed on chicken and got a bloody chicken, so she had to add time.Yesterday, my granddaughter was here. We cooked a frozen roast using the timer. It worked perfectly. The meat was tender and flavorful. My granddaughter said it is hard to clean because of the many parts, nooks and crannies. Well, we are use to simple stove top pressure cookers which have only three parts. So, we like or electric P Cookers here in Idaho. John

Poor!
Product failed in the electronics after the third use. The display read all 0000 and wouldn't do anything! I had contacted American express before the 30 day return policy as I had no clue what to do. I love Amazon and have had no problems with any other purchase. After finally figuring out how to contact Amazon (They were very helpful) I was then routed by e mal to the store of origin and once again told I would have to contact the manufacturer by phone and deal with them. Really poor product and really poor customer service. (not Amazon....Amazon is wonderful!)

Long review, but worth the read. Compared to Midea 15-in-1
Ok so I just received this cooker recently but have already made two dishes in it. I am comparing this to my Midea 15-in-1 pressure cooker.Size: This one is slightly smaller than the Midea, by 1 liter, which is 4.25 cups. I like this smaller size when I'm cooking for my family of 5. It can probably max out at 6 lbs of cut chicken...today I made just 1 whole chicken. The Midea cooker can hold more, but I don't always need to cook so much. This one actually fits quaintly in my lazy Susan cabinet, whereas the Midea sits on top of the counter bc it doesn't fit in the lazy Suzanne. So if counter space is an issue, def go with a 5liter which is sufficient cook in for 6-8 adults.Looks: both look great. This one is newer to me, so it obviously has the new appeal still going for it. I do notice, however, that these pots tend to get dented easily. My Midea sits next to me kitchen aid mixer and bumps into it when I slide it out to add the ingredients in, and it has some small dents bc of it, I try to keep the dent side closest to the kitchen aid so it doesn't dent even further. The BT900XL5 has Chinese writing on it , which I know will turn some ppl away from it. But you gotta realize that these things were marketed and used in china much before here! So these guys got it right! In fact, most the electric cookers are made there. This one is "Asian style" and I guess is marketed more towards that community. But I don't mind it. I like the cultured look it has . This one gives a minute time for each button, something that the Midea doesn't have. It also allows us to lower or higher that time that each button is set for . You press the rice and it sets for the given time, I think 12 min. But if you time adjust it, it can go from 8 or 12 or 15 minutes. I like that I don't have to press manual and set the time button each time. Today I cooked basmati rice, 2 cups rice, 2.5 cups water, rice mode set to lower time (8min) and quick release. Perfect for our needs.Warm mode: love the fact that this BT900XL5 counts up after it's done cooking. So if I'm out shopping, and I come home to a cooked meal, I know how long ago it finished cooking. My Midea didn't have that function. I just went to "OH" after the time for cooking use to end. ("OH" means keep warm ) this one literally goes up each minute after it's done cooking.Overall i rally am enjoying my new toy. I'm excited to cook new dishes in it . I no longer have to lament all day about what to cook. Today I pressure cooked a curried chicken dish with some gravy in 10 min (used the congee function button set to a lower time) . Turned out perfect. I did sauté it for about 3-5 min with the garlic, ginger, onion, tomatoes , and spices before closing and starting the timer though. ...which bring me to another point ...tHere is NO sauté function on this pot. But I just press the given button (today for the chicken I pressed congee and set to ten min, and then it heated enough to sauté . So it's not an issue. This is the way I did it in the Midea also...I rarely used the sauté button on that cooker either.)The lid is great on this cooker, it twist and locks into place very smoothly. You need to make sure the sealing valve is on the proper position. And then you set the cooker and wait. There's no noise, no smell, no fuss. Really am enjoying cooking in these electric cookers. I recommend adding on the 3-4 yr warranty for a few bucks more. Just as extra insurance. I almost always add them to electronics.Con: no recipe book, no steamer basket, no rack. Wish they included a few accessories. I did receive an addition silicone gasket for the lid though , which was a pleasant surprise. So that was nice. But yea, no recipe book. There wasn't one for the Midea either. I have been waiting for the seller to send one bia email for a year now, but I guess they just don't have one? But seriously don't let that deter you from buying this. There's also no yogurt, cake, or egg button on this cooker. But I knew that when I bought it. If anyone knows how to make yogurt without a yogurt button in here, please share your recipe. Thanks!
