Sport-Brella Premiere XL UPF 50+ Umbrella Shelter for Sun and Rain Protection

I bought this umbrella back in August 2020, and it’s still going strong in July 2025. Just wrapped another beach weekend with it—flawless, as usual. We bring it every single time. It’s been everywhere, used hundreds of times, and it’s held up like a champ. I added one of those umbrella hooks from Amazon that slides on the pole—great for hanging towels and gear. Setup? Stupid simple. Pull it out, twist the base into the sand, pop the top on. Just pay attention to the wind unless you want to reenact Mary Poppins across the shoreline. I switch between upright mode and what I call “tent mode” for windy days. Just tilt it, fill the sand pockets, and boom—rock solid. It shrugs off gusts like it’s no big deal. Yeah, the zipper windows corroded shut years ago—but I never used them anyway. A few threads around the support arms are loosening, but after six years of beach weekends, that’s a badge of honor. Still works perfectly.

I had one of the original Sportbrellas and I loved it. After many years of use it finally split the bed. I immediately ordered another one and I’m very impressed by the upgrades and changes they’ve made to it. It’s even better than the first one. See you at the beach!

Honestly, my expectations weren’t high and I’ve been pleasantly surprised how much we’re enjoying this umbrella. The setup and take-down is unmatched, SO FAST. The corkscrew on the pole will go several turns into dirt/grass and provides a great anchor point, add four more quick stakes into the ground and this thing is firmly planted in the ground. At the park when everyone else’s portable shelters were going airborne during a large gust of wind, our umbrella didn’t budge. We always leave the vented windows about 50% unzipped for more wind resistance. This thing is going to work awesome on the beach. On park days we put a blanket inside for our kids to nap and set a camping loveseat in front to enjoy the shade.

Nice size and solidly made. A real chore to disassemble but overall it shouldn’t be a deal killer.

This is great for the beach. It opens quickly and is sturdy. It is large enough to accommodate two to three people.

I recently purchased an XL Umbrella Shelter to provide some much-needed shade during hot soccer games, and it has been an absolute game-changer. It's also surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to carry from the car to the field. The fabric quality deserves praise; it's thick enough to block out the sun effectively but still breathable, which means sitting under the shelter doesn't feel stuffy or claustrophobic. The UV protection is also a significant plus, as I have peace of mind knowing that we're shielded from harmful rays. Another handy feature is the tilt mechanism that allows me to adjust the umbrella's angle as the sun moves across the sky, ensuring continuous shade without the need to relocate the entire setup. The inclusion of side flaps for extra sun protection is thoughtful and useful during the peak hours of sunshine. However, on particularly windy days, additional anchoring might be necessary to keep it grounded – a small concession for the overall benefits it provides. All in all, this XL Umbrella Shelter has been a fantastic investment for our soccer season. It's durable, user-friendly, and provides a haven from the heat, making those weekend games something to look forward to, regardless of the weather. A solid addition to any sports parent's sideline gear.

We tried and full zippered tent with a sun tarp over-head for a Summer Florida trip with family of all ages. Took forever to set it all up. It didn't keep the Black Flies out, and was a lot to pull through the sand in the heat. UGH. I had a Sun-Brella years ago that I had LOVED but had stolen but didn't think would help on this trip. So wrong. By the fourth day I ordered that latest and greatest which made it to us the last 2 days. Light and easy to carry, takes literally a second to set up, and can be reconfigured into a 3-sided tent, just an over-head umbrella, or my new favorite, tilted just so - so it's three-sided sun protection but off the ground so the wind flows above AND below. Love the new zippered "windows" and sand pockets your can fill for super windy days. Will NEVER go without again!!

Worked great at the beach this year. In shelter mode it was fantastic, I got compliments and even a few interested buyers! Umbrella mode was great too, and the tie downs kept it from going all over the place in wind (umbrella is large so it catches a lot of wind) I HIGHLY recommend getting some separate stakes for this. The ones that come with it, the simple metal J stakes are essentially useless. The more robust ones that come with it are okay. I found the standard tan coloured Coleman stakes you can buy at Walmart worked 100X better and even in a 20km/hr wind directly into the shelter it had no problems staying up. The extra tie down ropes that come with the umbrella are great but be warned they are HARD to unclip from the D rings once attached. Took a lot of force. Maybe just tie down with your own line. These are the only complaints I have which aren’t an issue yet but I can see them becoming one as time rolls on: 1) The auger bit is plastic as others have mentioned. When twisting hard into sand, I’m always worried it’ll snap. Wish it was metal. 2) The lever you clamp down to hold the inner umbrella pole in place to the larger bottom pole with the auger tip is a little weak. I could easily pull the entire umbrella out while it was clamped down. Any serious gust of wind could too. Thankfully you have tie downs. 3) material is thin nylon stuff as usual. I just fear for its longevity. No issues yet.

Fantastic product. There’s so many ways you can set it up during the day considering the wind and sun, and it holds up through it all. The tie lines really help stabilize it, and the extra flaps provide just the right amount of extra shade. The fact that it has a screw on the bottom to go into the sand was such a huge help. Some of the best money I’ve spent on beach equipment.

I only tried to use it once in 12 knots of wind, it turned inside out and bent. Very disappointing and my return window was closed
