A new level of cooking!
I ordered this because a neighbor recommended it and said it was an amazing grill/smoker for all meats. I had a traditional smoker in the past and I found them to be very labor intensive and that it takes multi hours to cook a roast, for example. The Pit Boss is GREAT! I use it in conjunction with a Meater thermometer and an app on my phone which removes all anxiety that you are under or over cooking.I have cooked chicken, sirloin roast, ham and burgers...all come out flawlessly and taste delicious! There is also a great amount of videos you can watch online to make your cooking experience even better.I recommend only using Pit Boss pellets as my neighbor told me he had some difficulty when he used another brand. Sounded like a marketing gimmick to me, but I have not had any pellet jams or auger issues. The grill makes me look like an executive chef!

A very nice grill.
Our old pellet grill finally bit the dust after many years of turning out great food. (It wasn't a Pit Boss) I've been shopping around for a replacement and this one gets a lot of good reviews so I thought I would give it a try. It's a beautiful grill. I will admit to feeling a little intimidated when I laid out all of those parts on the kitchen table (see photo). But with a little patience and just following the instructions step by step it went together rather well.I haven't cooked on it yet but I did run it through a break-in and test run. Everything worked perfectly, I started with the smoke mode and then ran it up through the temperature settings until I got it up to 450. It heated up well and fairly quickly considering that it was only about 45 degrees outside. It held temperature at least as well as my old grill, within about 10 degrees.I love the control panel, the Prime button, and the overall simplicity of use. The ability to slide a panel over to expose the burn pit is a nice feature for searing. You can easily empty the pellet bin to change pellets. (Yes, the bin is rather small but should be more than adequate for my use) There are two Jacks to plug in temperature probes into the meat and have the internal temp of whatever you're cooking displayed right on the panel. (The probes didn't come with it but when I saw that feature I immediately ordered some) And the grill is sharp-looking. I love the offset color of the lid. It really makes the grill look sharp.I'm looking forward to creating some great barbecue on this nice grill.Update: I finally cooked on the grill today. It sure wasn't fancy but it was a great test run. We had company over including 5 grandkids so I cooked up some burgers and bratwurst. Following the grill instructions I started it on the smoke (lowest) setting with the lid open and waited for the smoke. In just a few minutes there was billowing white smoke rolling out of the grill. I waited for the smoke to dissipate a little and then closed the lid and turned the heat up to 400. The grill heated up quickly considering it was about 40 degrees and windy. I decided to take out the upper grill to give me a little more room to flip the brats and burgers. During cooking, I found that the Prime button is very handy. What it does is boost the heat up by dumping extra pellets into the fire pot. It worked well by using it either right before or right after raising the lid to keep from losing too much heat. It also cranks up the smoke level for a few minutes which adds some great smoke flavor to the burgers and bratwurst. I found the grill to be very easy to use, and I can't wait to do something a little more serious on it such as ribs or brisket. I like the grill a lot.

Buy a Traeger!
I bought this grill in mid April and it arrived a week later. Assembly was easy for the most part, but some of the screws were impossible to remove, and I could not mount the cable protector or put one of the handles on the serving tray, but that was only where the troubles started. Looking forward to using my grill for the first time to cook some ribs, smoke was billowing out of it constantly, and it would not maintain heat. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the pellets, so I replaced them to cook some steaks, and it was more of the same. Also, I had noticed that the fan would only come on for a few seconds after powering it up, and that didn't seem right to me. Also, there was a small explosion inside the grill. So, after all of this, I called PitBoss support and was told that there was most likely a wiring issue in my firebox, and that I would have to fix it. From what I was told, it seems like this is a common occurrence as they had a wiring diagram ready to send out to me to fix this issue. In the meantime, the new handle arrived for the serving tray, but no screws were in it. At this point, I am really angry, and I called back asking how I am supposed to mount the handle as the screws I was provided with were stuck in the handle that came with the grill. The support agent (Mia) suggested I go to my local hardware store to find screws for it. At this point, I was even angrier and told her I was not happy at all that I will have to tear my grill apart to fix their manufacturer's defect to fix the wiring issue. Being handicapped, I cannot get on the ground to get in the bottom panel of the hopper to fix the wiring, and she said, "well maybe you can have a neighbor do it for you. At this point I am livid! So, I have a 70 pound paper weight on my patio now that I cannot really do anything with, and it is my responsibility to fix it. I would strongly advise you to look for another grill. The product looks good, and there are probably many out there that are working great, but it seems their quality control is terrible, their customer service is worthless, and if you have a problem with your grill, you are screwed! Buy a Traeger!
