It’s okay.
So I usually run the Troy industries trigger guards because they’re enlarged for heavy gloves and they can pivot like the standard GI. Best of both worlds. This was purchased for airsoft replicas in order to practice drills where a firearm is a bad idea, like inside my house in the suburbs. I didn’t need all the bells and whistles and just wanted a similar feel to the real thing. I ordered two in different colors. One was the older design which uses a roll pin and a set screw. It needed to have material removed to allow the hole in the front to line up with the hole in the receiver. The other was the newer design which replaces the rear roll pin and uses two set screws there. I suppose if you have a tendency to ugga dugga everything and snap ears off of receivers then this is an “upgrade”. I found it to complicate a simple assembly and just drilled out the tiny bit of plastic separating the channel and used a standard roll pin. It does it’s job, but I don’t see me ever using one again. I really prefer quite a few of Magpul’s products but it think they over complicated this one.

Great upgrade, annoying installation.
Installing this product took years off my life. It looks great though!

Test fit the pin and allen screw before installing.
After reading comments about stripping the set screw, I had a closer look at mine when it arrived. There was a spot of something that I can only assume was similar to locktite on the set screw. I was hard, so I cleaned it off with a pick and wire brush. I next installed the set screw in the trigger guard before installing it on the receiver. Then removed the screw and installed the trigger guard on the lower. So when I did install it on the receiver went in easily. If you plan on doing more than a couple of builds, I suggest getting roll pin set punches and roll pin punches.

Great product, one speed bump?
Great product overall. I think my ar body's pin hole was slightly to small, or the pin was slightly to big. either way i had a spare DPMS roll pin laying around from the previous trigger guard, worked well with both the body and the guard. My suggestion would be to either buy one, or have one laying around when purchasing this product. i would like to note that i tired to modify the pin by squeezing it, and the steel is just to rigid. In addition, the hex screw does not seat flush with the right side trigger tabs (might be the design, but its rock solid in there**). like i said though all in all great product!Pros: Looks f-in sexy Material is top notch IS the same color as all other Dark Earth magpul productsCons: Hex can be stripped Pin may be to big for some ar lowers??

In My View - AVOID - EDIT - Now A Buy
I had a bad experience with my Magpul polymer trigger guard. It split as I was driving in the pin. After that, I installed the standard trigger guard that came with the Stag Arms lower receiver parts kit. The Stag is a million times easier to install.I'm sure the other Magpul parts will be fine for my AR build (stock, grip), but the trigger guard didn't work out so well. I might give Magpul one more try, but I'll have to wait and see.*****EDIT*****I am upping my star rating from 2 to 4. While I think I got a bum trigger guard, others I've tried work great. I no longer hammer in my pins. I got a great tip about using C-Clamps instead of using punch pins. I now use C-Clamps on all my AR builds.
