Would this work in a 2 pin socket even though it has 3 pins? (i didn’t realise there were 2 types of plugs for usa!)

Hi there, thanks for the query! Yes, there are two types of plugs in US. One is 2 pin, which is ungrounded socket. The other one is 3 pin, which is a grounded socket. The product you are quering now is a 3 pin plug, and can not fit 2 pin socket in US. As we know most of US are using 3 pin sockets nowadays, because 2 pin socket is ungrounded socket which is not safe. Will this adaptor work on royal caribbean cruise ship, they seem to have us connections. and will my ghd straighteners work?

Generally speaking RCCL & Celebrity ships usually have 2x USA sockets & 1xEU or UK socket all 110v. But it depends on the ship, ie when it was built/refurbished. You’d be better to go to cruise critic website where you’re more likely to get a ship specific answer. Also check whether RCCL will allow hair straighteners on board as some cruise lines won’t due to fire risk. That’s why none permit irons on board.

Competent adapter

Ones never sure whether these things i’ll work once you’re away from home. This adapter worked a treat. Seems a quality adapter? The plug had a good solid connection with all the EU m sockets. The USB devices all recharged in the anticipated times. The only criticism would be the little bag/case - it was cheap & paltry, maybe an elasticated draw string padded bag would’ve been better to keep the contents in. Other than this; I was pleasantly surprised by the quality & the charging speed via USB & via the 3 pin plug.

Has a Problem

Purchased this for trip to Dominican Republic as the Hotel we were staying in said they used the US 3 pin plug, In the US I have only come across 2 pin sockets but on doing some research found they also have the 3 pin for safer use, Problem was the Hotel actually only had the 2 pin and these plugs can not be used so they have very limited use as the third pin can not be moved or removed to adapt for 2 pin sockets. I can not even comment on if it worked or not as did not get to use it. The plug adaptor is made good and feels strong not cheap.
