Tangle Wood: A Captivating Colouring Book with Hidden Jewels

Beautiful and Intricate Woodland Designs with hidden charms
The media could not be loaded. "Tangle Wood" is a lovely book filled with woodland inspired designs. The designs are intricate and hidden within the pages are a variety of animal charms as an added fun adventure to coloring. Making the hidden element an animal helps it to blend in both while you are looking for it and after you have colored it.The artistry of the designs are gorgeous. They are quite detailed, too, and I am sure that for some of this book, I will rely on my magnifying lamp and some very sharp pencil points. Some of the designs are done in a frame style with an open area in the middle. The designs are printed on a yellowish medium weight paper. The pages are not perforated and both sides of each page has a design on it. Additionally, most of the book has designs that span across two sheets of paper and the design goes right up to the edge - which makes it difficult to color in those areas and very difficult to remove the sheets from the book. I find that this is fairly standard for this types of journey/activity style adult coloring books. While it provides us with large images, it makes it very difficult to color.I have tried two types of gel pens and two types of ultra fine markers and they all seeped through to the underside of the page. I think pencils are they way to go with this book. You could use crayons but the detail is too fine for me to be able to get my crayon points in properly.Journey and/or hidden elements coloring books are some of my favorite types of books to color in. I let myself immerse into the book while searching and coloring and find that it helps the stress of the day fade away. This is something that I find true with hobbies that require a single focus as it puts me into an almost meditative state. It is hard to worry about something in the future when in the present all of your focus is on putting a color just so in the design.

Beautifully illustrated and whimsical.
I have always like to color - from childhood until now. This is my favorite! It lets you express your creativity and provides relaxation. I live in Florida and like to take it out to the lanai with a cup of coffee in the morning and sometimes at sunset. The illustrations are fine and beautiful. As it is a whimsical book, the colors you can use are endless. I love it!

Different but just as pretty
There are a lot of Johanna Basford's out there right now. This book is made by one of the people trying to break off a piece of that fame and make a little money. I think it would help if these publishers made the covers of these books look a little bit different than Johanna's, but that's not really here nor there. The drawings are different enough in terms of style that they stand on their own. I really like the way the bark has been drawn, and the owls and other flying animals are more than unique enough. I like Jessica Palmer's artwork, and it's very pleasant to color her pictures. I think it's time for people to move away from hidden images and secret pictures, though. The adult coloring world has lots of room in it, as we're beginning to see. Let's make some space for people who like to draw nature but who are interested in a different approach, like Jessica Palmer.

A Unique Take On Woodsy Nature Scenes & Beautifully Done Animals
The first in Jessica Palmer's Tangled coloring books just might be my favorite out of the three. I really can't put my finger on exactly what I like most. It's just a nice blend of forest animals, nature scenes and suns and moons with Mona Lisa smiles. The owls are adorable! Paper is of excellent quality and pages lay flat enough to get at those spaces where the image goes into the spine. Should be in every colorist's library.Seller did wrap the book in plastic film that kept it nice and dry inside, which I highly appreciate since my postman sometimes leaves packages in the drip zone even though I have a covered porch. Go figure...

Nice Smaller Coloring Book With Charming Drawings, Too Many Pictures In the Crease--BUT Bought On A Nice Sale
I wasn't sure about this color book. It's slightly less than 9" x 9", with pictures printed on both sides, no perforations, and many pictures go into the seams. I also though it might be too detailed as I usually avoid books which are titled with the words "tangle","entangled", "intricate", coloring", "pattern", "doodle", "mania", or "extreme" as I do not find them relaxing .I picked up two of these for cheap when the price dropped to $3.25 this month. I like it a lot--it's got just the right amount of detail for me. The paper weight is good, it has a semi-hard cover, and the drawing are charming. The biggest challenge will be that about 22 of the pictures go into the seams which can be frustrating. At the price I paid though I can't really complain about anything too much. I will use the book to experiment with different media; might just cut the string binding and remove all the pictures. If you're interested in this but think it's too expensive, keep it in your cart and watch for price drops--never know, that's how I got mine and some other really cheap.

I love this book!
I love this book so much, that I have 3 copies. One for a gift and two for me. I really like the size of this coloring book, it is small enough that you can stick it in your bag and go. But, it isn't so small, that it is difficult to see when you are ready to color. The cover and binding are heavy enough, that when you decide to take it with you, it will hold up the abuses of being in your your bag.I use oil based colored pencils and they work very well on this paper. As you can see in the attached photo, I color very heavy and even with the dark black, there is no shadowing on the back of the page. I don't agree that the paper is too thin. In fact, I really liked the paper that was used in this book.I use a large art board with a clip and silicone bands to hold my books while I am working on them. It takes me quite awhile to finish a page, so the coloring book was on the board for several weeks. When I removed it from the board, there was no damage to the spine and it closed like it should. This is a very special book, by a talented artist and I can see it becoming very popular. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for Jessica Palmer's upcoming addition to her Tangle series.
