I found this unit on a discussion of Onan generator problems. The original electronic regulators on my vintage of 7.5 JB machines is known to deteriorate, in part due to capacitor lifetimes. Mine tended to oscillate and run at too low a voltage, which is typical. I ran for a while with fixed excitation but that could not handle varying loads. I was not sure this unit would work with my machine, but it drives the "magniciter" field circuit with no problem at all. I now have steady power at the right voltage, and prompt response to load changes. Soooo glad to have it working during this week's ice storm.
