Case Logic SSMA-313 Welded Sleeve for 13.3-Inch Ultrabooks / MacBook Air / MacBook Pro Retina Display (Pink)

I use this case for my MacBook Air 13'. It works great as it fits the laptop snugly without being a struggle to get the laptop in. The case is water resistance because 1) The material it uses does not absorb water and seems sturdy. 2) The opening is sealed by a flap of the case material that forms a seal when the case closes. The velcro forces this flap down snugly so it acts like a hose that has a section clamped shut. Water can't reach the area where the laptop is. The design is nice and clean. It doesn't a texture that seems flimsy. It feels like rough leather with a more plastic tone. The only downside is the velcro seems to be coming off slightly. I do not think it will be a problem in the short term and likely will outlast the laptop. HOWEVER, if you open and close the case frequently, you might get a lot of velcro hairs in your cloth.

With a Macbook Air in this sleeve (Case Logic SSMA-313), it's like carrying a large manila envelope with a thick magazine inside. I had an iPad in an otter box before this, and they are equally portable. It fits nicely under my arm so I can use both hands in a pinch to carry coffee and and my food back to my table at lunch. It has a nice nonslip texture so I can walk with it in one hand when I'm out and about. I keep my MBA in sleep mode (just close the cover) all the time while transporting in this sleeve; in this way, it is always available. It's like having an iPad with a super comfortable keyboard and all of my industrial strength apps rather than iOS apps. I have no worries about the MBA falling out; it's a tight fit and the velcro holds it securely. The velcro does make noise when opening up the flap, but you can just open the case before entering a quiet meeting and then enter the room with the flap pre-opened if that concerns you. The edges on the sides are stiff and should protect from impact with a short fall when landing on the edge, which is the biggest worry with impacts. Of course, if it took a blow to the side or if it were stepped on, the MBA might be ruined -- it's not a structural hard shell case, it's a soft shell sleeve. It think it is as protective as a normal nylon padded case. I walked in the rain with it recently and the inside of the case was perfectly dry. I wiped down the outside of the case with a paper towel and there was no residual dampness on the outside at all. Just love it. One note: I left my MBA in sleep mode in the case routinely all winter with no problems, but recently, during a warm spell, I found it very hot in the case with the fan desperately trying to cool it down. Now I turn the MBA off before putting it in the case if I'm not going to use it for a while. Not a problem since MBAs start up so quickly.

I really like this sleeve for the price. Pros: It fits my Retina MBP perfectly and feels like a sturdy barrier between the MBP and the external environment. It is sleek looking, soft on the inside, and it doesn't add too much bulk. Easily fits in backpacks, briefcases, etc... Cons: The only real con is that the velcro that seals the sleeve is very strong and therefore very loud. This is probably good from a protection standpoint, but it is very bad from a "discretely pull out my laptop in a board meeting, library, or classroom" standpoint. If it weren't for the very loud velcro, I would have definitely given this product 5 stars.

This case fits my apple macbook air 13 (2013 model) inch like a glove. It could probably fit other 13 inch ultrabooks but not thick laptops. When closed it completely seals off the laptop from outside environment due to extra material that is hidden in the inside case. This case is scratch resistant and partially impact resistant due to the hard material on it. Also it may help absorb some of the forces of impact if you were to drop it. The case is water resistant so if you spilled coffee on the case or had it sitting out in the rain for half an hour I feel it would be fine. I doubt it would last more than five seconds if it were submerged under water. This case offers superior protect for a fraction of the price. Jump on this if you need a case for your 13 inch macbook air or similar laptop.

The case is a very tight fit for my laptop when it has a case on it. It is a perfect fit when it is just the MacBook air with no case on it! It might be because my Kuzy case has a rubber-ish texture to it, making it difficult to pull the laptop out when its in the sleeve. It definitely feels very protective and waterproof (except where the fold is at). The velcro part is quite annoying though since everyone looks your way when you open the sleeve. On another note, a friend of mine stuck his macbook pro with a cheap china case into the sleeve, and it was able to slip out. It's not a bad sleeve, just cannot work with my Kuzy case.

This is just my first impression haven't used it much yet but I like this sleeve. The material doesn't feel or look cheep at all it's actually quite nice and looks professional. It fits the Macbook Air perfectly and adds enough protection that I wouldn't be afraid to put it in a book bag, briefcase, or luggage. It has a nice felt/felt like interior and the velcro is stitched on not glued like the Thule. The foam padding doesn't add much bulk at all, with the MBA in it the thickest part where the flap folds over is about 1 1/8" and the other side is about 5/8". I would recommend this to anyone who was considering the Thule sleeve as this is much cheaper and seems to be better quality.

Dropped my whole laptop entirely into the snow (while in this case), and it was fine. No snow entered or melted into my laptop. Love it!!!
