I was hoping for a little bit bigger in size and more sound like a bongo

1 year old granddaughter likes to smash them against the floor despite everyone trying to get her to hit the drum part. I was pleasantly surprised to learn first hand that they are pretty sturdy (even though they are made with cardboard covered by hard plastic). They didn't damage the floor, either. When older grandchildren play them they make a very nice sound, which you wouldn't expect from a toy with this kind of construction.

This is a very simple bongo. You hold it and beat on it. There are no small pieces that can break off. The grandbaby likes to beat on it with his hands and sometimes with a plastic spoon. The bottom is open though there is not a great deal of space there. Grandson likes to turn it upside down and put toys in it. Looking at the round part that you beat on, one side is about an inch smaller than the other. Grandson likes any kind of music so this was a great addition to the play area.

This is just what we wanted for our granddaughter. She likes to pound things and this is perfect for her. It is a lightweight plastic toy with a nice color combination and a very soft sound. We have had it for a month and she has played with it a lot. It seems to be durable so far, she has hit it with wooden toys and droped it many times with no damage to it.

Really bummed about this bongo. I just received it literally half an hour ago, went to wash it so my son can play with it. Well ends up it is NOT safe to wash. The material for the base is made from what seems like cardboard!! It is literally coming apart as we speak. My son was not even able to play with it. So bummed I wanted my money.
