SUPERB BROADCAST RECORDING FROM SRV AND DOUBLE TROUBLE ON THE NIGHT BEFORE TRAGEDY STRUCK Stevie Ray Vaughan spent his final days performing with Double Trouble as the opening act for Eric Clapton at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre, a 37,000-capacity amphitheater located in Wisconsin. Clapton was booked to play the venue on 25th & 26th August 1990, with Double Trouble, The Robert Cray Band and the Memphis Horns as support. The show on 25th August was recorded for simultaneous live broadcast and this CD features SRV s entire set from this night, somewhat eerily the penultimate show that Stevie would ever play. The band was still promoting the In Step album, released on Epic Records the year before, in June 1989. The show featured six of that album s ten tracks, which were augmented by some choice covers in Jimi Hendrix s Voodoo Chile, Stevie Wonder s Superstition and a couple of Double Trouble classics, which all at once made for a sterling warm up for Eric Clapton s set.
