Evening Primrose Oil is an excellent supplement for overall health and well-being. I personally take it to help strengthen my hair, nails and skin while also maintaining proper hydration, minimizing joint pain/fatigue, and avoiding osteoporosis. Jarrow EPO is completely chemical free and does NOT use any solvents, esp Hexane. In lower quality supplements, they use powerful chemicals to dissolve and separate out the oil. It's significantly cheaper and faster than cold-pressing. Don't assume that because a certain brand is more expensive that they are chemical free - INCLUDING ORGANIC BRANDS!!!! If it doesn't explicitly say HEXANE FREE, you are taking a huge risk. Jarrow is a high quality brand and I've been taking their EPO for quite a while now. Best quality vitamins - easy to swallow and were very effective

These vitamins are great. I take just one every night, and it seems to be helping with cramps and other period symptoms. They symptoms are obviously not gone completely, but I've had less pain during my period since I started taking evening primrose oil. But a warning: the pills themselves are HUGE. It doesn't bother me, but if you have a hard time swallowing pills, these might not be a good option.

This stuff is amazing for hormonal acne. I used to be on the pill, which eliminated my awful hormonal acne that was all over my back. It is extremely embarrassing to have back acne, especially for a teen (now adult) girl. However, due to the pill giving me ridiculous mood swings, I got off of it and switched to Mirena, a hormonal IUD. This thing destroyed my skin. My acne came back in full force plus a bit more, along with patches of eczema to boot. I researched ages on how to fix this, battling the same tiring, emotion-destroying battle I fought before the pill. I finally decided to try Evening Primrose Oil. I started with 1300 mg a day taken at night, and that did nothing. I then started taking two pills, 2600 mg, and that had noticeable effects, but not entirely where I wanted to be. I now take three pills, 3900 mg, a day, and it truly works. This isn't a miracle by any means, and I still get a few bumps around my period, but it is a million times better than what it used to be. 3900 mg seems like a lot, but it's what works, and I'm not stopping any time soon.

I started using Jarrow Evening Primrose (1300 mg) along with Black Cohosh approximately 8 months ago due to symptoms (hot flashes) of early menopause. I knew within 3 days that this combination of supplements was a winner. Symptoms decreased by 95%. I was in heaven. I take one pill (of each) every night at bedtime. All was right again in my world. No more waking in the middle of the night burning alive .... no more mid morning flashes after eating breakfast .... then I ran out and purchased a bottle at my local drug store. It was a different brand, cost more and I received fewer pills. And by day 3, symptoms were back though not EVERY night nor EVERY day ... they just started to slowly return. I began waking up at night again .... and I figured it had been to good to last and that the magic combo no longer worked for me. My co-worker advised I continue, just using the original brands I used from the start. What do you know. I ordered Jarrow and within 3 days ... symptom free again. Those hot flashes are nothing to mess around with ..... I will order Jarrow and only Jarrow from here on out (I just added to my Subscribe & Save) .... I thank the hormone Goddesses for Evening Primrose and Black Cohosh .... seriously ...... now if only the pills were not so darn BIG! They are not small by any means. If you have issues with swallowing pills, these may not be for you ..... but if that's not an issue, give them a try ... just may be your miracle too!

Good stuff, I think :) Over the past few years I've noticed some extreme hair loss - I'm talking about 3/4 of my hair. My docs all said it was due to my most recent childbirth. But he is 2.5yo now. Hormone levels are supposedly normal, as are thyroid. Did some research and began taking saw palmetto, evening primrose oil (for hormone balance) and iron (low dose). A few months later and now my eyelashes are growing back, my leg hairs and I would assume my head hairs (that's a bit more difficult to ascertain)! One of these, or maybe all, are working! The herbs are quite safe so worth a shot if you are trying to figure out your hair loss!

I have used Primrose off and on for the last five years. I can always feel it when I do not have it regularly. For me this helps keep hot flashes down and I have a better overall wellbeing feeling. It also helps with my IBS, keeping my inside working smoother and more normally. The pills are large but that doesn't bother me. I recommend it for anyone with IBS issues because oils have been very helpful in my treatment.
