This device is AWESOME and I simply can't speak highly enough about it. You attach a power supply, battery bank, and load (usually radios). The PWRGATE will take the incoming power supply current, power your radios, and charge the battery bank. It is a smart charger capable of handling various current requirements and battery chemistry.If there is a power failure, the unit switches over to battery backup automatically. This action happens so quickly, I cannot see even a momentary lapse of function in any of the radios attached. As soon as commercial power returns, the unit switches the radios over to A/C supply and recharges the batteries.Seriously, if you want any form of grid down automation, this is the unit for you.

This is a GREAT switch/charger. Using it for backup power for 2 CPAPs and switching is instantaneous, not so much as a hick-up from the units when the power goes out, and a smooth transition back when city power comes back on.
