Quality, economical choice for transporting your bikes
Right out of the box I knew I had made the right decision when I purchased this bike rack. First of all, it is very solid and the only assembly involved was folding it out and locking it in to place, which took about 30 seconds and no directions. Literally 5 minutes later and it was mounted on my vehicle and ready to put the bikes on. All without the use of a manual, which is a huge plus in my book! There is a bit of a learning curve when placing bikes on, but that is to be expected with any bike rack. I was able to place bikes from a large women's beach cruiser to a small 16" girl's bike with training wheels without any issues. You do need put the heaviest/largest bikes on first, closest to the trunk and the smallest/lightest on the outside. In response to some other reviews about damage...There are rubber protectors on the metal pieces that actually touch the vehicle, so I did not have any scratching of paint or damage in any way at all. I am not sure how rubber is taking paint of of a vehicle, this was not my experience at all. I have used this bike rack several times with one bike-four bikes and it is very sturdy and secure. I have drove it up and down my very rough, bumpy, gravel driveway and there has not been any issue with it coming loose. If I can take it up and down this driveway packed full of bikes, I would trust it to hold through just about any situation. The straps stay tight and I trust the integrity of the bike rack. The rubber pieces that hold the bikes onto the rack are very secure. All of the elements of the rack seem to be quality materials that will last for a long time. The rack is super easy to remove if needed. I can load it on or off in a minute or two no problem. You can also leave it attached to the vehicle without bikes if you would like. But, I found it is not a good idea to open the trunk with it attached. It can easily fall off while the trunk is open, since you have to remove some of the straps to open it. I would definitely recommend this rack. It is a quality product, very functional and one of my best purchases recently. Do check the Allen Sports website for the chart to see if it is compatible with your vehicle before purchasing! There has not been anything better than being able to take the kids for a family bike ride. I am so glad I purchased this product!

its an easy 10-15 minutes to install and attach your bike
I would give this bike rack a 4.5 out of 5 but since there are no half star rating, I'm bumping it up to a 5. Pros: - It comes pre-assembled so you can take it out of the box and install it and be on your way within 30 minutes. It does take some time to figure out where to place the bike rack, but once you've figured it out, its an easy 10-15 minutes to install and attach your bike. Pretty simple! - The product overall is well made - it's sturdy and it feels like it will last. - We were able to fit 4 bikes on the rack without any issues - 2 Fat Tire bikes and 2 mountain bikes - we rotated the handles so they bikes were able to be nestled together. - It is EASY to use - one person can install this without too much trouble & taking the bikes off the rack was a breeze (as far as putting the bikes on - see my comment in the Cons). - I didn't feel as if my jeep was weighted down with this bike rack - even with the weight of the rack and 4 bikes. I felt pretty comfortable driving with it - there was minimal swinging/creaking during our drive. We have yet to take it on a long road trip - You can use this rack on multiple vehicles so it's not restricted to just one car - this is a huge plus! Cons: - As others have stated the metal clips were concerning but I bought pads for $10 and although they weren't the best - they did protect my SUV. I'm going to try other hacks mentioned for the next trip. - You CANNOT open your trunk while this is in use, so if you need access to your trunk you will need to remove the rack and replace the rack - If mounting on an SUV (I have a Jeep Cherokee) it sits rather high so if you're small like me, you're lifting the bikes above your head to place it on the rack - I have a carbon fiber bike and it wasn't that bad, my boyfriend's bike however, i was unable to lift up without his help. Tip: - You still need to make sure you have additional bungees/zip cords to tie up the extra strap lengths so they aren't dragging on the ground and to secure your bikes together so they don't bounce into each other. We did forget to bungee the bikes after our last trail ride because we were in a hurry to get home and surprisingly the bikes were secure and did not bounce too much - but better safe than sorry, it'd be a shame to have your bikes rubbing on each other ruining the frame. - The bottom clips need to be inserted into the jam of the bottom of the trunk and that wasn't very clear - it made me nervous but once we figured it out, it was pretty simple and stayed secure. - Make sure you bring a lock and secure your bikes, it does not have a security feature included on the rack - we just used our regular locks and secured the bikes to each other AND the rack - so if someone really wanted our bikes, they'd either have to have the materials to cut through the locks or they'd have to try and steal the whole thing. For the price, the pros totally outweigh the cons. This bike rack is a great value and does the job well. Will take pictures to post the next time we use the rack.

Great, but 4 bike fit is tight!
I have had this rack for two years and it has held up great. Still in great shape. We have left it attached to our 2004 Ford E350 (van) all summer. I have also reliably attached this to my 2013 Kia optima. The bottom straps have a loop around the buckle that was attached using elastic. The elastic broke on one of the straps while tightening it. I am replacing it with a plastic tri-glide slide ($2.00) from Amazon. The strap itself is very strong and durable. The top straps have hooks that go around the edge of the door/trunk and cannot be removed without opening the trunk (or back doors in the case of our van). We have returned few times from a ride where the side and bottom straps were hanging but the top straps were securely in place. We took this as evidence that someone tried to remove it. Although it has never been stolen, I now have a bike lock wrapped through it and around the bumper. The tie down cradles are well made and have rubber pads and rubber straps to protect the bike from scratches. The rubber straps are very strong and hold the bike firmly in place. Very easy to connect and disconnect. Some bikes with a low crossbar may require the Allen Sports Tension Bar Bicycle Cross-Bar Adaptor (check it out on Amazon, it gets great reviews). This works great for bikes that cannot be hung due to lack of cross bar. I gave the rack 4 stars, really should be 4.5, because four bikes are a tough fit (although I did get four bikes in it a few times). Hanging one or two bikes is a breeze, three takes just a little longer. Hanging four bikes on this rack takes time and makes going out a little more of a chore.

Top-notch rack and support at great price
Because Amazon often lumps reviews of various models and styles together, this is for the S-102. Due to the spoiler on my 2014 Forester, many racks do not work for my car. The S-102 works great. Beyond local trips, I have traveled with my bike fully secure for 7 hours at a time at speeds of 65 mph and more in torrential rain with no problems. It is very easy to set up and secure to the car, and there has never been a mark left on the car's finish. The straps are long enough to use the excess to secure the bike's wheels to the frame and the frame to the car. I appreciate the rubber tie downs, though I always worry about them tearing if too much stretch is exerted on them, but so far, so good. Overall, top quality. Beyond the product itself, Allen's customer service is terrific. I initially had concerns this might not work for my spoiler, so I emailed support and received a same-day response assuring me it would. When I received it and attached it to my car, I was concerned about the placement of the feet on the hatchback window and my license plate, so I called and got someone right away. They suggested I email pictures for them to evaluate. When I did, I again received a same-day response validating my set-up. You can spend a lot more for competing brands that will accommodate spoilers (and at least one does avoid ANY contact with the spoiler), but this one works like a charm for far less money and I don't regret the purchase in any way.

Solid Two-Bike Rack That Balances Value, Speed, and Stability
Solid Two-Bike Rack That Balances Value, Speed, and Stability The Allen Sports Premier 2-Bike Trunk Rack (Model S102) is a smart buy if you want a reliable, quick-to-install carrier without spending premium rack prices. It arrives fully assembled and folds flat for easy storage — no tools, no frustration. The patented quick-snap setup really does make it a 1–2 minute job to get it mounted once you’ve adjusted the straps for your car. The frame feels sturdy, with well-padded contact points that protect your paint, and the dual-compound cradles hold bikes snugly without scratching. It comfortably supports two adult bikes (up to 70 lbs total) and remains stable even on highway trips, thanks to side straps that keep it from swaying. The wide car pads distribute the load evenly and prevent dents or scuffs — a detail cheaper racks often overlook. A few notes: it fits most sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs, but not every spoiler-equipped vehicle, so checking Allen’s fit guide before buying is worth the minute. Also, while quick to remove, the straps can tangle a bit during storage — a minor trade-off for the convenience. Bottom line: A durable, well-engineered trunk rack that installs fast, holds bikes securely, and stores neatly when not in use. A proven favorite for weekend cyclists and road-trip setups alike.

Great Item
2010 Toyota Camry-First let me apologize for not taking a picture with my bikes on but i will update in the future. But i am able to fit two bikes just fine. Took me 10 minutes and put together, is already put together you just have to put it on your car. There are two hooks that go on top , two hooks one to each side and one for the bottom. At first i installed the hooks wrong and scratched the heck out of my car. Once i fix it it was great. No matter what you will scratch your car, you are dealing with metal pieces and straps, my car is a 2010 Toyota Camry so i don' t mid having a few more scratches. Without the bikes my trunks still opens as normal and is able to stay open on the up position, be-careful though because when you close it you got more weight coming down and the bars can hit your head. Once on the road the bikes stayed secure and stable, no issues. I really recommend this but you will get some scratches on your car that's inevitable, especially when you are putting your bikes on and off.

Arms to small to support two bikes; tie-downs did not stay tied
I have two issues with this roof rack. 1a. I mounted our two bikes onto it and went for a drive. Bikes came loose from 3 of 4 rubber tie-downs. I don't think I was fastening the tie-downs wrong. Tie-downs attach with a rubber button, which is not nearly as secure as the method my previous Saris racks used. Outer bike didn't fall of the car because: 1b. The arms are not long enough to easily hold two bikes. I have two road bikes (27 and 24 inch tires, drop handle-bars). So bikes are thin. But the rubber support plates for the outer bike were too close to the inner bike. The frame would fit, but pedals and handlebars clashed over space. Yes, I tried alternating direction of bikes. I we eventually able to get outer bike onto rack and tied down, but bikes were somewhat interlacecd. On the upside, this is why outer bike didn't fall off of car when both its tie-downs became frree--the inner bike was holding it in place. 2. I bought this bike rack as I recently traded in my Sienna (with a trailer-hitch) for a 2024 Honda CRV (without a trailer-hitch). So I needed a replacement rack. Amazon page says rack works with most SUVs and (in small print) suggest checking the database on Allen's website for specific recommendation. I admit I didn't notice this until after I decided to return the rack, but did check the website database, which suggests the rack will work with the CRV. It doesn't. It doesn't work because my CRV has a small spoiler above the rear window (see photo). I think the 3 CRV "Sport" models have this spoiler and the four non -sport models do not. They spoiler is made out of plastic, which I doubt is strong enough to support the weight of two bouncing bikes. I didn't test it as I don't want to pay for a replacement spoiler. My test drive of the bike rack was on my other car (Nissan VersaNote). I note the existence of this spoiler is not the fault of Allen. But their database should differentiate between cars that have this spoiler and cars that don't. IMHO.

Wanted to give this 5 stars, but... check it before installing!
The package came and looked as if it had been previously opened and repackaged - The rack didn't seem to fit properly in the box, and the flaps were forced closed with packaging tape. That's not a big deal to me, but it may have something to do with the serious problem I had with this rack. Out of the box it seemed to look/operate nicely. When I opened the rack, it snapped into place with a reassuring "click", and felt solid. I mounted it onto my car, following the easy to follow instructions, and checked that everything was secure. I then mounted my 2 average weight adult hybrid bikes, secured them in place, and rocked them to make sure they were secure. Awesome. I then got my car packed up (2 small children in car seats included), and drove to the end of my block, and "THUD". The rack collapsed, and left a nice dent in the trunk lid of my shiny new Accord. I immediately drove slowly back to my house, and checked to see what happened. To keep it short, the bolts holding the rack together were not tight, and there was just enough space between the bars that when the full weight of the bikes were on the rack, it allowed the locking pin to come free and collapse the rack. I then had to take everything off, which was much more difficult since the rack was trying to close itself with the weight of the bikes on the car, take everything inside (kids included), and tighten all the bolts. I even made a modification and added a couple washers to keep the locking pins extra tight when locked open. The next time I had the courage to try it again, it worked perfectly. It is a great rack, just make sure you check the bolts before using it!
