Platinum Collection

The media could not be loaded.  I was excited to get this LP set, the package arrived intact and well packed HOWEVER, upon opening the cardboard package I noticed that one of the corners of the LP cover was crushed… I cut the cellophane and discovered that two of the records were damaged one cracked the other missing a pice, the one that was intact had a few black dots melted into the white vinyl, these dots or contaminants protrude enough that make the needle to jump and introduce noise while playing. I love my CD set (although not a comprehensive or complete by any means of Nina Simone’s catalog) so, I wanted to have the corresponding LP set. Fortunately Amazon reimbursed me for the broken records. I think I’m going to stick to the CDs for now and wait for the 7 LP set of the Philips years that is a more complete catalog of Simone’s music.Update. The only record that was saved… was warped, you can see the video. The others were taken by the recycling truck this morning. How can a brand new record be warped (I can understand broken records being mishandled at the factory, the warehouse or even during transit) but a warp record…(?)

Disappointed in the song selection. Of all the great albums and songs by her this is by far the most disappointing lp. I own several of the "greats" platinum collections and I love them all but this one.

I was glued to her every word as It inspired and saddened me. I'd love to see one of the songs turned into in a script. She was candid holding nothing back, the movie did her no justice. I was surprised at the price of this collection!

I have several vinyl albums of Nina Simone as well as at least one CD, but this collection is better than all of them combined.

After purchasing a number of Nina Simone CD's I was excited to find this compilation. Unfortunately many of the tracks were difficult to hear especially the instrumental piano piece "You'll never walk alone". Even at full volume, I couldn't hear it. Sadly disappointed.

My husband loves Nina and I bought this for his birthday in February. He plays it on his Bose at least twice a week. Best gift ever!

Present requested by Grandson, very pleased with it. Grandparents pleased he has good taste in music.

The collection of songs was brilliant and well put together but didn't feel the quality of the pressing was up to the mark for me personally. Despite sound quality, absolutely love the records.

This collection was really good. It holds a lot of songs that I had never heard as a 'sometime' fan of Nina Simone. I say that because I have the compilations of her more commercial/famous songs - but this collection has a great mix of those which are better known songs and those which are not. It's wonderful to hear her music in this way.

Great product - I was ok with one or two top hits not being on here so advise you check the tracks carefully too to avoid disappointment. Eyes open though this is a great list

Great pressing, but Forbidden Fruit isn’t present despite them advertising it as the first track on disc 1 side 2.Forbidden fruit is my favourite Nina song.
