Couldn't find it anywhere else. Review: One of the best in 2019! - Many times stories about the Holocaust are so painful to read that you don’t want to finish them, but not this one. Even with all the horrendous atrocities the characters face, their human spirit shines through and, in the end, you are grateful to have taken this journey with them. It’s hard to believe that human beings could treat other human beings this way, yet the story is based on the biographies of several survivors and it’s SO important that we remember. I highly recommend this book and all of Lily Graham’s novels. Her stories are compelling, well-written, and definitely worth your time. She is a terrific writer who can pull you in immediately and keep you interested until the very end every time. Such a talent! I always look forward to her books and eagerly await her next one!

Read this one
This novel was nicely written without horror, psychological demons stealing your sleep. It was a love story, simply told, from a horrific time in our World’s history. Tender, compelling.

Historical Fiction at its best!
I love World War II Historical Fiction and this book did not disappoint. This is the story of Eva Adami, her best friend Sofie Weis, Helga and Vanda who are all imprisoned in Auschwitz trying to survive the horrors of the concentration camp during World War II. It is told in a then and now format with then detailing Eva being a 21-year-old artist falling in love and eventually marrying Michal Adami, a concert violinist. This is a heartbreaking story that is a real page turner. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this fantastic book in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys WWII Historical Fiction as it will not disappoint you.

Child of Auschwitz
A haunting story of love, loss and the cruelty of the Nazis. Characters are well developed and based on true events. Harrowing tale that should remind us all of the horrors of WWII.

Extremely good fictional WW II concentration camp story
The Child of Auschwitz is the story of Eva Adami and the life she had living as a prisoner in Auschwitz in WW II. It is about her being torn from her family, her husband and her life Prague. It is emotional and full of strength. Eva lives through the horror and comes out of the concentration camp determined to live for her daughter. She has many challenges and the biggest is giving birth to her baby under the horrific conditions of Auschwitz. I highly recommend this book.

I'm quite interested in the Jewish Holocaust and have read quite a few books on the subject. What I liked about this book was that it wasn't too harrowing, there were uplifting moments which balanced it out. Also I learnt a few things which I didn't know. Really good book.

I was really gripped by this book. I read it in one night. Although it was a fictional story per se, I appreciate that real life comparisons did actually occur. The strength of the characters to endure and survive the brutality and hardships in that awful time make modern day civilised poverty pale into insignificance. I wish there was a lot more literature about how survivors of the holocaust picked up their lives after they were freed though. I think modern generations need to know not just what happened during the holocaust but the ways they coped with survival and life as it changed post WW2. Apart from searching for lost relatives, how many were actually found and how? How did the survivors feel about or cope with any searches for their tormentors and guards, to bring them to justice, not just the political hierarchy? This book is a really good read. Thank you Lily.

It is 1942 and having been in a Jewish concentration camp and ghetto in Terezin for nearly a year Eva Adami, desperate to find her husband Michal, and having no knowledge that such a hell hole and a place of death and degradation existed, she volunteers to transfer to the camp of Auschwitz in the hope of finding him. Combining historical fact with fiction, The Child of Auschwitz is a powerful story of resilience, courage, survival , love and the incredible strength of the human spirit. I found this such an emotional and evocative read and it kept me gripped and turning those pages well into the night. Great characterization and rich descriptive prose that made you feel the cold and their everyday hunger and agony made this a 5 stars highly recommended read from me. Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.

This story definitely kept me up at night. It's not the first WWII book I've read, but certainly a worthwhile one. Eva is a strong, determined and heroic woman who takes you on her tragic journey in a way that is horrifying to read but also hopeful and inspiring. Well done to the author as that's no mean feat.
