Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw (+ Blu-ray) [2019]

This film could easily be an utter miss if you are in the wrong mood or expect anything other than a mindless blast. However, as I was in the mood for a bit of brain off time and I'm not a fan of esoteric French subtitled guff, this film hit the spot - mostly.There were a few places where the complete ridiculousness of this even got to me but they were done with such utterly bananas bombast that they could be forgiven. Of course the entire film hangs on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Stratham and that's fine. They riff off each other in a completely bonkers way in an OTT version of a 1970's or 80's buddy movie.Vanessa Kirby is present. To be honest she could be interchangeable with of a range of other actresses. Adds the female interest I guess.Idris Elba plays...Idris Elba. It rather seems that no matter what role he plays it's basically the same. Slightly more wooden than a lumber yard but make a perfectly passable baddie for a film such as this.Action, car chases and plenty of explosions. That's a given and I can't see how any more could be added to a film. They are well done, utterly implausible and if you put any effort into considering the reality of them you would give up. Best to watch this with a few mates and a beer or two.Overall, fun, silly and completely mad. It could be a stinker but instead it's a bit of mindless fun.

I bought this, then spotted the same movie for the same price in 4K! Heartbroken, but my lesson learned is advice I can pass to you guys n dolls. Don’t press in haste, have a glance through first, also,... don’t press stuff while ‘sampling’ whisky.Now, about the film.All I can say is, what a great Romp. Great action/adventure. Great script. Fantastic comedy timing. NOT a Fast And Furious movie though.This is not about the cars, or Dom and the team smashing more baddies, this is pretty much a stand alone movie, I reckon you could 90% watch this without the other eight movies’ background. But hey, opinions are personal. Either listen to me, or not. Whatever you do, don’t miss this film. 9.5/10 for Hobbs and Shaw.

What were they thinking? This is such a load of nonsense - it's truly terrible. We had to laugh at it because it appears to have been written by two drunk 7yr old boys who stayed up eating Haribo all night! It staggers from one ridiculous confrontation to the next, the themes are so heavy-handed it feels like the script was written in capitals and bold type (probably in comic sans as well). You don't care about anyone in the film, the best actor is the Rocks daughter, by a country mile and there is truly nothing good about this film - apart from Samoa...that does look like a beautiful place and well worth a visit sometime. if you are baked off your face then you might just enjoy this... otherwise steer clear and watch John Wick instead.

A way over the top film, 3 Great Actors from Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba and Jason Streatham, just too much, great cinematography, great sound effects, diabolical dialogue and quite bad acting from all three, too long a film a convoluted story line, seamed almost a parody or comedy, It was nice to see all the Samoans , some Maoris.But I was extremely dissapointed with the film and glad I only rented it, not a film I could watch twice

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham deliver it again!Good fun and wild ride, exactly as expected.Lots of action and a good dose of humour, all delivered very well.

Good things are The Rock and The Stath, typically entertaining. Idris Elba's talent is a bit wasted. It's just a bit overlong and dull in places, too much CGI bashy crashy but what do I know, this is the first F&F film I've ever watched. There is some truly uninspired and cliched writing; "Maybe 6 minutes is all we need", and Brixton's magic motorbike is utterly stupid. It passed a couple of hours but would have been better if it only passed 90 minutes or so.

This is exactly what you would expect from a movie with the Fast and Furious Banner and starring Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. It is loud, stupid, and great fun. There is definite chemistry between the 3 leads, and the writing is amusing if a little uninspired.The action set pieces are over the top and entertaining, the pacing is good, and though he is not used a huge amount Idris Elba has a good time as the villain.Definitely would recommend for a Friday night with a couple of beers!

Brilliant spin off from the Fast & Furious franchise.Dwayne Johnson & Jason Statham make a great double act and feel that the entire cast had a ball making the film.My only gripe is that Universal who are normally pretty good with releasing 3d titles failed to put this out in the U.K. and I had to import it to see the way it was supposed to be seen.
