Q: Will this punch through extra thick leather? I have a gun belt that is 1/4" thick and need to add a hole.

I believe so but have not tried it on such a thick piece. There are other products that have a compound pliers action and have a revolving punch head with different punches. They do not come with the eyelets but can definitely punch the hole through the heavier material.

If I'm looking at the product correctly, the setters will handle eyelets ranging from 1 mm - 6 mm. I did measure the eyelets they included and the outside of the ring measures 5/16 inch with the inside hole being 3/16 inch wide. The snaps included are just a dash larger. I have yet to use this particular product due to the fact one needs to change out the setters for the different size eyelets. But the other hand held eyelet setters I've used before do work well but have noticed the ones with the metal setters that you can change out work far better than the ones with the plastic pieces for the eyelet to sit when crimping. Hope this helps.
