Streetwise Athens Map - Laminated City Center Street Map of Athens, Greece - Folding pocket size travel map with metro map Map – Folded Map, May 1, 2013

I bought this map to use during 3 days spent in central Athens. It was very reliable! Minor but helpful details, such as some little walking paths, were marked on the map. I was able to navigate successfully around little neighborhoods with twisting streets. The tourist landmarks that I needed were clearly shown on the map. The various metro lines, and stops, were also shown on the map. It folded up and was easy to put in my handbag. There was also a little overview map showing the subway lines out to the airport, a small street map of Piraeus, and a map of Greece and the islands. I've used these Streetwise maps before, and the Streetwise Athens did not disappoint.

All the Streetwise maps are the best tool when traveling. I have even purchased ones for cities that are on list of future travel plans. The Athens map had everything I could ever want to experience. The Metro stops are clearly identified and it made for very easy navigation around the city.

I'd never travel abroad without a Streetwise map. My wife and I used this Streetwise Athens map this summer, and it was terrific! Detailed and up-to-date, it's also plasticized, so even if it gets wet it's still usable. And it's a bazillion percent easier to fold and carry than a paper map. Three cheers for the entire Streetwise lineup!

I've used the Streetwise Paris map several times and am looking forward to using the Athens one on my upcoming trip to Greece. The Paris map is complete, thorough, useful, etc. It folds into a small size and is waterproof for rainy days. These are great maps - try them! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that the Paris map is set up somewhat confusingly - with the middle on one side and the areas both North and South of that on the other side. But it was fine once I remembered that odd placement.

I've used this map several times in Athens, and it is generally useful. It does have several serious drawbacks. The lesser drawback, which has been noted in other reviews, is that it is divided in two. More serious is the fact that it cuts off parts of the city where one may wish to go and, worse, it ignores many important churches and museums. If you are not going more than a mile from the Acropolis it works fine. I am taking this map with me on my next trip but I am also buying a more comprehensive one.

Streetwise maps are the ones I use for travel both domestic and international. I think they are great, convenient to carry, precise and easy to use. Athens has changed a great deal since the last version had come out so the newly revised map is most welcome. I will certainly be bringing mine along when I revisit Athens next year.

This was a useful (and durable) tool for walking the streets of Athens. Packed easily into my day pack and it saw a lot of use! The laminate is "heavy duty" and this map folds easily into its' original "shape." If you are planning a trip to Athens, I recommend this map as well as the "Frommer's Day to Day" guide for Athens, Greece.And, if you are thinking of a trip to Athens, wait until the unrest cools a bit and then go take it in. GREAT food and friendly people. Lodging can be a bit pricey, but food is very reasonable (and you will want a lot of it!) and it is a city where most sights are accessible on foot. You'll not regret a visit to Greece.

Big advantage over printed maps - it doesn't fall apart in the rain. Also doesn't get worn out from folding and refolding. Lasts for multiple trips. I always buy these if available for the cities I visit and have never been disappointed.
