Don't caulk without it
After completely renovating two bathrooms I cannot recommend this caulk smoother more highly. I had previously struggled to consistently get a smooth caulk line, particularly for long beads such as around window sills or baseboards, or around tricky applications such as toilet bowls, sinks, and faucets, even with a caulk smoother. After a little research I came across this product and have used it religiously when caulking with either latex or silicone caulk. This simplifies smoothing out any caulk bead to create a smooth caulk like and also makes clean up a breeze. This product is made up of a volatile solution that works by preventing the caulk from adhering to the surface to which it was applied until the caulk smoother has evaporated (which takes <5 minutes). This gives the user enough time to smooth out the caulk and ensure that the caulk forms a tight seal where it is applied. It also allows you to easily clean away any excess caulk, even with silicone caulks. Since using this product, I now apply caulk quite liberally in any application and don't have to worry too much about tooling the caulk to make a tight, aesthetic caulk line. I would also recommend using a caulking tool available from any hardware store or online. My only criticism is that the spray bottle could be bigger as you can go through the 9.4 oz quite quickly if you are doing a lot of calking.

Poor adhesion!
After using this product for a while now, I've realized several things why I won't be buying this product again. First, I noticed that if I sprayed this solution directly at the silicone bead and smooth with my finger there will be "flashing". The edges of the caulk line has problems sticking to the surfaces you're trying to seal. At first I had thought I used too much but even spraying sparingly will result in flashing. I ended up covering it over with another line but used water instead to smooth the caulk. This time I get nice feathered edges with good seal. After several more tries, I realized the only good compromise was to wet my finger with this stuff and try to smooth a silicone line. This seems to give a decent result. For what it's worth, this is an ok product but has a lot of nuissances that I found not worth buying again. I'll pass...

Great helper for the frustrated caulker!
I've been using this product for a while now, with more than satisfactory results (given my amateurish caulking skills.) Am generally contented with the ease of use and the resulting caulking job, once the caulk (and smoother) has dried. Especially for the impatient (me) and the modestly skilled DIY-er. After applying a bead of caulk, spray the bead lightly, and pass your finger. The bead, after application of the spray, acquires a more fluid character and then easily and evenly spreads in and along the joint. The caulk cures normally without any evidence of the spray.

Makes caulk very easy to work with, but leaves a lumpy finish.
I have only used this with White Lightening silicone caulk, both white and almond. If you have used silicone caulk as opposed to acrylic then you know it is sticky as hell and that's why I bought this. I am assuming the other reviewers are using this only for silicone as that is what the description states it is for.Regardless, I can tell you that this instantly makes the caulk not sticky and it is easy to slide your finger or caulk tool against. I have used it three times now over the last year and up until today I thought it was great (5 stars), until I realized that when you use it you end up with a somewhat lumpy finish. I would be interested to hear if others have had the same issue or not. I am not saying it is horrible, but it definitely affects the finish. Next time I caulk something I will try without the spray and see if I get a smoother finish or not and I will update my review then. Finally, I did not have any issues with it affecting the adherence as another reviewer stated.

Works well but you don't need much of it. ...
Works well but you don't need much of it. Be sure to apply caulk first, then VERY LIGHT spray from the bottle, then smooth with finger. Sometimes I just pout a bit into a cup, dip my finger in it and then smooth the caulk that way, without spraying the product directly on the caulk.

does what it should
I used this in conjunction with a caulk smoothing tool and when I needed to finger product to make it appear smoother this is what I used. Smells like the inside of my Grandma's purse, thus so did my bathroom for a day after but the tub surround and sink look very nice.

great for silicone
This caulk smoother works great when using silicone. Just spray a little on and then run your finger over it like you would latex caulk. You get a nice, smooth, professional-looking bead every time, which is something you can't normally do with silicone.

Looking like a pro
I think everyone has had the opportunity to be frustrated by caulk that looks worse when you try to smooth it either with your finger or a tool. This caulk smoother eliminates that frustration and makes me feel like a pro when I'm done. A great product at a great price.
