Zomei Variable ND really works
This does what it claims, a variably adjustable ND filter. So easy to use on my Nikon D7200. Set camera to manual, 6 sec exposure, F22, ISO 100 (disable auto-iso), compose the scene and half press to auto-focus. Now TURN OFF: VR on lens, AF on lens, AF on camera switch. Now adjust your ND filter to darker, watching the exposure meter. When you've achieved a good exposure level, click your remote shutter, or, use 8 second delayed shot mode. You did remember to put the eyepiece cover on, right? Here are a few of my first long exposure with Zomei variable ND attached.

Maybe I just got a bad one?
I bought this for landscape long exposure photography.I noticed I had trouble using the AF mode when trying to take photos of people on bright days with a Speedlight. I then tried using it for long exposure and noticed that at some ND levels, weird splotches appeared on the photo. Almost like oil marks.Depending on the ND level, it wouldn't be a problem, but when I wanted to do longer exposures I noticed it.It's a shame, because it was a great price. Maybe I just got a bad one?__________________________Edit - 08-24-2017So I tried using this ND filter in a controlled environment again to confirm these issues. This is when I realized that the "grease splotches" were actually just me going past the furthest density setting (the arrow and the little squares). If you stop at the last one it works just fine. It's not as dark as I would like, but it's only a 2-400. As for AF issues, I realized my optical viewfinder couldn't focus on subjects because the ND filter was too dark and my AF point only works to -3 EV. I have changed the rating back to 5 stars, this is a decent price for a decent ND filter.

Did the job. Good price.
I used it for a music video in bright overhead sunlight on a Canon EOS R. I was able to keep my aperture, shutter speed and fps at optimal settings for video. In the sunlight at 100 ISO, the scenes were still blown out without the filter. This filter allowed me to use a wide aperture to keep a nice bokeh. The scenes were sharp with a nice contrast. This is the first time I have used a variable filter so I was thrilled at the ability to adjust on the go without being limited by my surroundings. I didn't notice any artifacts or flares or vignetting up to one stop from the darkest setting. I didn't use the darkest so, I can't comment there. Otherwise, the glass seems to be good quality. I have not compared it the the more expensive brands. My final product looked better with the lens. Overall, I am happy that I bought it. For the price, it was a great piece of gear to have. It more than paid for itself the first time I used it.

Using with a Canon 7D with 17-55 f2.8 for video
I don't do long exposures or photography. I use the ZOMEi 77mm Ultra Slim ND2-ND400 Fader with my 17-55mm on my 7D for video, in daylight, using apertures from f2.8 to f4.0.The 77mm filter size uses an 82mm lens cap.The adjustable ND ring feels snug and I'm pleased with,1. how easy it threaded on the lens2. the retention of color saturation3. lack of glare4. the ND scale reference on the ring

I'm impressed
This filter has a very good optical & construction quality AND a low price (thing that moved me to try it out). I can't say it's professional but performs great having very little color casting and not noticeable distortion. YES it presents the X cross effect on its max setting but I wouldn't say its a product failure but something that is expected to happen as is on ANY other ND fader filter being this inherent on its principles of work. Its great to have for video and photography following its versatility. However in the case of very long-exposure photography its max usable fade may not be enough.. It won't in any case be a replacement of a ND400/1000 fixed ND filter.

The product description is WRONG
The product description calls this the "ZoMei 77mm Ultra Slim ND2-ND400" however, the product that was shipped is actually the "Slim" model, not the actual "Ultra Slim" model. The main difference (other than the obvious that the "ultra thin" model is thinner) is that this model spins continuously and does not stop to prevent you from setting beyond the labeled MIN or MAX, which results in bad vignetting and an "X" pattern being visible through the lens.

Right on par with hundtred dollar brands(Tiffen, hoya, bower, and even heliopan), maybe even better.
Amazing quality. I've been using these for about 2 yrs now. The color shift is minimal, as to be expected. I wouldn't use these for professional photography but for videography. I've yet to find any variable ND that is fitting for professional photography, they tend to soften the image a bit. However, for video, they are phenomenal. I've compared this filter with my tiffen and even heliopan filters, right on par.

Come with nice protecting plastic holder with pad
Instead carrying a stock of filters now you can carry this one for all you want to do. I primarily use this for my 72 filter size lenses. I also use 72-77 converter so won't get vignetting. Come with nice protecting plastic holder with pad. I do not use enough to compare with more expensive models but so far I don't see any difference.

bueno
