I have a lot of confidence in this to prevent casual theft of our barbecue/firepit. Attached one end to the firepit, other end to a buried concrete block. I don't think it would deter someone who comes prepared with an angle grinder, but if they're coming prepared, with tools, I'm not sure how you could keep something safe.
