Scotch Guard --- Great Protectant for Christmas Decor!
This product works "the best" on most outdoor Christmas Decorations & more. We spray all our items after we put the decorations up in the yard. (Stopped using on items made of "wicker & string-glue"-it's material that looks like wicker--some "Angels, Snowmen...etc.". turns them yellow, and the colored lights, dulls the bulb coloring.) Otherwise... this is a great product!

Great All-Around Waterproof Spray
So, I have used a variety of waterproofing products before -- mainly for the purpose of treating coats, boots, and camping material. One thing to always look for in any waterproofing product is a statement of intended use. Scotchgard heavy duty water shield is a good all-around product for re-waterproofing or providing additional waterproofing protection for materials and products already designed to protect from the elements. Examples include certain types of leather, nylon, polyester, etc. This product will not magically waterproof porous or water absorbent material. Case in point, I read that someone was disappointed with the product because they tried to waterproof their pillowcase and was shocked when it didnt. Couple thoughts on that...if you're in a situation where your pillowcase and/or other gear is getting soaked, it's likely that no amount of waterproofing is going to help you (e.g. a monsoon, falling in a river, lake, or stream, or a 40 day deluge (aka also see "The Flood" story in Genesis). Additionally, why would you want to lay your face on a product that is synthetically made to repel water and that has a poison control warning if ingested or sprayed in your eyes? Yeah...moving on. I most recently bought and used this product to re-waterproof a rainjacket/windbreaker I have owned for about two years and to help protect a new tent I bought a week ago. I used a total of four cans for an entire 6 person tent and jacket. The product took only a short amount of time to dry (was dry to the touch in about an hour or two...and I soaked my jacket and tent/rainfly with this stuff), and it was put to the test not but three to four hours after application. As with the many other times I have used this product, it worked beautifully. It literally poured down rain with wind gusts of 40 and 50 mph, complemented by lightning, thunder, and even a little hail thrown into the mix, for two days straight. Not a drop of water in my new tent, despite the ground being completely soaked and the appocoliptic torrent of rain that was dumped on me. And neither my tent, nor my jacket, were discolored or stained by the product. Now, as for cons, there are few. The product does need to be reapplied at least once yearly if being used on gear that is used on a fairly regular basis. I camp all four seasons, so my jackets, camp gear, and boots are genuinely put to the test; however, it's unreasonable to think that when you waterproof something that it will last forever. Also, there is a slight odor to the product when first applied, so be sure to apply in a safe, well-ventilated space. I usually apply outside or in my garage with the garage doors open. The odor is similar to WD-40, so oily mixed with a bit of manliness and can-do attitude. But what waterproof spray doesnt have some kind of chemical odor? The final verdict: when used the way it is intended to be used, Scotchgard Heavy Duty Water Shield works like a charm and will likely make your life a whole heck of a lot more comfortable for those occasions when staying dry means the difference between being comfortable or being cold, damp, and miserable. You will have to reapply at least once a year if your gear is being used regularly. There is an odor to the stuff, but wears off eventually...usually a few days or less if left to dry in a well-ventilated space. The product is definitely a value and worth the buy when comparing the low cost to the high reward of staying as dry as one possibly can in the elements. Cheers!

The product works as expected
I got 1 can of this spray to coat my 10x10 canopy walls prior to camping. It did cover all of the walls in 2 coats but it wasn’t enough to get the roof too, that is my fault, I should have bought a second can. I did experience a very intense rain storm while camping after I had treated the canopy with this product an I can say it does work. When I got home I was able to just brush off all of the mud and dirt with a broom so the spray did help to protect the white walls from staining from the red mud. The price point is worth the quality you get from this. It did cover all lot of area for 1 can as well,

Effective water REPELLANT (7/10) at 3 coats if properly applied.
I have applied many brands of water repellant products over the years. This product does pretty well when applied and dried x3 coats for outerwear shells. I apply a 4th coat to the seams as well. It isn't waterproof, its water resistant. A silicon based product will get you closer to waterproof but won't be breathable. This does exactly what I bought it to do, the smell is more manageable compared to other brands. You can re-seal one adult size (shell) jacket with ABOUT ¾ of a can.

Very Pleased
Before the wet weather starts for the winter, I wanted to give my outdoor furniture covers a coat of waterproofing. The application was a breeze, the spray nozzle worked perfectly, giving a nice even spray throughout. Two days after application we had heavy rains and the product worked perfectly as advertised and water beaded up on the covers with no penetration through the covers. Very pleased with the result.

Works Surprisingly Well, But the Smell is Brutal!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was a bit skeptical at first, but Scotchgard Outdoor Water Shield has seriously impressed me. I used it on my outdoor cushions, a canvas tent, and a few backpacks, and so far, it’s repelling water like a champ. Rain just beads up and rolls off instead of soaking in, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Pros: ✔️ Actually Works! – After applying, I tested it by spraying water, and it literally rolled right off. My outdoor furniture has stayed dry even after heavy rain. ✔️ Easy to Apply – Just spray an even coat, let it dry, and you’re set. No crazy prep work needed. ✔️ Versatile – This works on a ton of different materials—fabric, canvas, and even some softshell gear. Cons: ❌ The Smell is STRONG – This stuff stinks. I expected a chemical smell, but it’s way more intense than I thought. It lingers for hours, so definitely apply it outdoors and let your items air out before bringing them inside. Final Verdict: If you can tolerate the smell, this is a game-changer for waterproofing outdoor gear. It’s easy to use and highly effective—I’ll be using it on all my outdoor fabrics from now on. Highly recommended!
