Effective but don’t press hard
Broke the first iron when trying to get heat to transfer to the work by pressing the tip to it. The threaded plastic center collar cracked. Epoxied it but that didn’t hold. Ordered these replacements then while waiting put two layers of 1” dia heatshrink on the cracked collar, that seems to hold it together. I recommend putting on the heatshrink before they crack. Otherwise a good iron.

Does not work with 862BD+ Soldering Station
Got as a replacement for my Yihua 862BD+ station iron but it doesn't work for it. Plugs in and turns on but has no cut off for how hot it'll get.

Heats fast, just go easy on it
Had to buy a replacement when I was having trouble getting heat to transfer from the tip to the work, so I pressed the tip hard on and the threaded plastic part in the middle snapped. While waiting for the new iron I epoxied the old one and it’s still in service, but I’ve learned the strength of the pencil. As for heat transfer, it would help if the copper plating on the tip were better, but I have the same issue with my Weller iron, so it’s not just this brand. Solid copper tips work best, but solder erodes them quickly so you’d need a good supply, and no one seems to make them for this kind of iron. As it is I have a hard time keeping the tip properly wetted with solder. Don’t know what alloy the tips are, but solder doesn’t wet them like it should after just a few days use. A hard oxide builds up and has to be worn off with tip cleaner. 63/37 solder. SMD work on PCBs.
