The story is simple and silly, and it doesn't just focus on the traditional potty training themes, but puts emphasis on the privilege of getting to wear big girl panties. It pairs well with the potty training approach of emphasizing keeping undies dry (vs. not getting them wet) — so it makes the statement positive vs. negative. A favorite page in the book states that babies, teddy bears, alligators etc. can't wear panties, only big girls can — my toddler loved this, I think because it made wearing panties/using the potty special vs. a chore. She also really liked the pages that state that "mommies, grandmas and aunties wear panties" — I think because she liked seeing the relation to other "big girls." Especially during the more challenging potty training moments, when my toddler would refuse to look at other potty training books entirely, she still got a laugh out of this one (and "Potty" mentioned above), so I would say this book was a great tool in keeping my toddler interested in potty training by making it more fun. I don't know how much of this can be attributed to this particular book, but picking out undies for the day is still a favorite activity for her and a great motivator to get out of bed and get dressed :-) I also give her undies as gifts for birthdays and holidays, because she is still really excited about them and unwrapping these she gets the same sparkle in her eye as unwrapping a toy. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My 19-month old is enamored with this book and studies it very closely every time we read it. The story is very relatable (showing saying bye to diapers, only big girls wear panties and babies wear diapers, etc.) to get started on potty training and the illustrations are cute and engaging. Review: Super cute book - Super cute book for potty training! My daughter loved talking about big girl panties

Great & Motivating Story to Help the Potty Training Process Along!
Wonderful, confidence building book to help a little girl appreciate the need to use the potty! Our daughter was pretty much all the way potty trained and then we moved (she decided 2 months before the move that she was ready). She regressed back to diapers over the course of the next two months and plain refused to use either the little potty or the big potty (with fun insert). We didn't want to cause anxiety and tried everything from books and videos to Pull Ups and naked booty. What worked for our first, was not working for her. Nothing was motivating her to want to try again and if we suggested it, she'd throw a tantrum. Too busy playing. Then one day I found a package of character panties that I knew she'd love (we had tried other pairs of pink panties before). Picked them up in store and found this book online (for less than a 3 pack pair of Mega Store panties) and decided to try the potty again. I read her the story and then asked her to 'read' it to me. She told me she was like the girl in the book. Then we watched a reading of Princess Potty on YouTube and she told me she was a Princess who wears undies and she wanted to potty. Has been 4 days and no accidents during the day or during nap time. Still using the Pull Ups for overnight, but SERIOUS progress! She wants to carry this book with her every time she goes to the little potty and even take it with her on car rides. Thank you Fran Manshukin! We feel this book helped our daughter tremendously! If you have a strong willed little girl, I don't think you can go wrong with this book!

Perfectly written and illustrated - It Works!!
Love this book. It was given to a 3 year old. She refuses to go on her potty chair and will not give up her diapers. We have tried everything. The other books we got her just seemed to upset her. They were all about going potty. She is tired of hearing about it... This wonderful book is about wearing big girl panties. It does not even mention or show a potty chair!! It came in the mail and she wanted me to read it to her. I read it and she loved it. She had me read it again and again.... She now wants some big girl panties - YES!!

Cute book my daughter loves to read.
My 2&1/2 year old daughter started potty training so I ordered this book along with panties for her to wear. This book helped her want to wear them and she does now all day except at night. Waiting for consistent dry nights before we try that out. The book is good, she really likes it and brings it to me several time a day to read to her over and over. I didn't care for the finger wagging and saying no to others that they could not wear panties. Luckily she doesn't copy that part. My daughter adores her aunt, so the part about mommy, grandma and Autie wearing panties helped her want to wear them too. Well made book. I like the thick glossy pages and it wasn't very expensive either. A good tool to add to your training in my opinion. Happy training!!!

Absolutely adorable!
Cannot say enough good things about this book. My daughter would scream “I wear panties!!!” every time she went in the potty while we were potty training. It was too cute and a definite motivator to help her in the transition. We got and read the book constantly for about 2 months before we actually potty trained - by the end of the 2 months she had it memorized. It’s cute, funny, effective - what else can you want?

Love the book, Hate the word Panties
This is a great book and my 3yo loved reading it, especially while sitting on the toilet. It helped show her what she was accomplishing was a really big deal. However, the word “panties” is the worst. It’s up there with words like moist and irregardless and frankly, it gives me the creeps. Turns out my 3yo doesn’t read and I can say whatever I want because I’m a grown-ass lady. So, every time the word “panties” was written I just said the word Underwear instead. Done and done. Toilet training accomplished.

My daughter LOVES this book! At first I was underwhelmed by it when I read it myself and kinda threw it aside for a while. A few weeks later I took it out to read to her and I made it like a song. She made me read it over and over. I read it six times in a row and then went to the kitchen to get a drink and she was “reading” out loud (she can’t read she’s only 2yrs old) she already had it memorized! It’s a fun book and totally worth the purchase!

Great little book for reading on the potty. My little girl loved it and it did inspire her to wear big girl undies, even if she hasnt mastered to potty yet.

thanks to all the positive reviews, i decided to purchase this book, and am very happy in the end. my daughter really likes this book, and enjoys having me read it to her! I think it is good for kids who are already familiar with the basic potty training routine, and are ready to learn about what comes next! i love the whole concept of how wearing "big girl panties" is like being in a cool group, it really makes it a fun experience for kids, instead of seeing potty training as a chore!
