My cat wasn't into it but it's still a quality product
I got it because my cat likes to scrabble at the seam of the door and wall and grabs onto the knob. I was hoping to kind of redirect him because he really likes vertical scratchers. He loved the catnip it came with but unfortunately he didn't care at all about the hanging scratcher. It's been up for a couple weeks and I've been trying to get him to interact with it but he's just not into it. He ate the little feather dangle off but that was about it. The product is really good. It's pretty thick and stiff with a denim backing and a pocket for the catnip. I saw some negative reviews based on the fact that the cat wasn't interested. That's not the product's fault. It's a good scratcher. Cats like different things, though. My cat wants the door and it's a hanging cloth so he can just move it to the side and he knows it. Your cat might not be interested. But if it is, it's a good quality toy that feels like it would hold up well and last a while. No assembly required and I still think it's worth a try

High Quality
This post is nice and tall with a wide base. When assembled its solid and sturdy. Time will tell how long it lasts, sisal doesn't last long with 4 cats, but I'm hoping the carpeted top section will be more durable. So far the cats are very pleased with it.

Working Great For My Use
As another person mentioned, the seagrass portion of this scratcher is attached via velcro... which is unfortunate (and why this product did not receive a full five stars), but I was fully aware of this when I purchased these scratchers (a little hot glue would EASILY remedy this). Besides that one thing, this scratcher is a lot like other ramp-style scratchers. The wood is solid, the texture is allurring (at least to my cat). He went for it INSTANTLY, even without adding the catnip (catnip went into the catnip canister for later use). I purchased these for placing around my bed to protect it from kitties who think the box spring is one big scratching post. I lay these on their sides and lay one around the corner of the boxspring, and it works great. The shape allows for these to be scratched by kitties laying down (Phoe will lay on his side and use the scratcher in the same way he would if it and he were standing up normally) without falling over (unlike a plain board)... and these are having no problem (even with the velcro) standing up to his scratching. The velcro IS strong enough to keep the scratcher on the wood, even using it in this way (I would think they would be even more effective standing up rather than on their sides). For the style of scratcher, you can't beat the price (I honestly couldn't find one cheeper), and if the velcro bothers you it's an easy and cheep fix provided you have hot glue or something like Gorilla or Super glue in the house. I purchased two and they are successfully protecting a significant portion of my boxspring (for some reason, the cats really only like one corner (thank universe.... it would be expensive to line the whole boxspring with scratchers!)) without any problems.

Cat likes it, but the base is too small and tips over
We have tried several different types of scratching posts in an attempt to protect our furniture. This one has held up to the cats scratching quite well and he really likes it. He used to be enthralled by the feather on top, but has since gotten bored with it and rarely goes after it now. We have not had any issues with the base unscrewing from the top. The one takeaway from this product is that they did not make the base wide enough to allow the cat to scratch the top. As I am typing this review, I can see the scratching post tipped over on its side. I constantly pick it up and he constantly knocks it over just by scratching normally. At this point I have given up and he still uses it to scratch, just on its side. Pros: Has held up well to everyday use Cat really likes it Cons: Tips over constantly. You have to put some weight on the bottom or wedge it under furniture to keep it from tipping immediately. The base is no where near large enough to prevent this, which tells me that it is a poor design.

Great! Cats love it!
I love this (and so do my cats!) There really isn't much to say. I know that my cats love scratching at that type of texture and it really showed when this product arrived. As soon as I unboxed it and put it on the floor for my babies, they were all over it! They even nap against it! The quality is great and it doesn't slide as much on my vinyl flooring as I originally thought it would. Not to mention, it looks pretty stylish as well! Usually, cat toys are oddly colored and have pretty ugly patterns on them, but this looks sophisticated while still being equally as fun and functional for my cats! I definitely recommend this.

ALMOST KILLED MY CAT. DO NOT BUY
ALMOST KILLED MY CAT! Under the carpet are black elastic fibers. My cat ate some resulting in a blockage and then his intestines folding in. Cost a total of $9,000 for surgery and recovery and he’s is still not out of the woods. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Sturdy, great quality!
Let's start with the price is only $6. For this, the sturdiness, quality is better than most I've seen. The edges are lined, it will stay together. It does not look cheap. As far as it being "flimsy" ...there is a pocket in back than runs the length of scratch mat. This allows to fill with bag of catnip that was also included! And allows you to put something in to weigh it down. I don't find it flimsy at all, just per reviews below. You could even take cardboard from the box it was shipped in and run that inside the pocket. For $6 it's is right-on! My cat loved it at first sight! There is s toy feather attractant that did the trick! Sometimes it takes a minute for your cat to take to it (as per reviews...some people are just negative no matter what). For the money definitely worth it!

Way too small
As many have said, the very small size of this scratcher is an issue. It just never occurred to me that someone would make a product that my 6-pound (very small!) cat can't use. Check the measurements, though (sorry I didn't), and you will see it is much smaller than equivalent items. My cat seemed attracted to it, but no sooner started scratching it with vigor than she would knock it over. After a few such experiences, she just ignored it. The scratcher is built well (the smooth, wood frame is sturdy and attractive) and the seagrass seems to be cat-friendly, however the frame is too narrow to remain upright. So... I decided to add a brace to the bottom (see photos). The only thing in my home that was the right size was a piece of plastic wire-channel, which I glued with Gorilla Glue to the inside back of the scratcher. Now it stays upright when my cat uses it--I'm weaning her back to it, now that she can see it is safe. Even with the modification, I'm less enthused about this than the wave-style scratcher that my cat loved, not only to scratch but to lay in and hide under. (I would have bought another, however the scratching surface of those I am finding these days is either small or mis-placed.) After we hopefully get a little use out of this, I'll definitely be looking for something else.
