Great notebook/pad to use as a task list. I use it at work to keep track of items I need to complete. The separate column at the left side of each page provides a dedicated place to add a check mark, X, or date when tasks are complete. The rest of the line is sufficiently sized for a short description of the work to be done. The cover on the notebook feels somewhere between a faux-leather and a rubberized coating. it's not waterproof, but it's grippy enough to not slip out of your hands. The elastic band comes in hand for keeping it closed. The paper itself is a heavier weight and coated, which is what I've come to expect of the Black n' Red brand. Their paper is fantastic for fountain pen users. Very seldom do inks feather or show through. They often show off more shading and sheen too! The only negative for fountain pens is that being a coated paper the inks do take an extra 5-10 seconds to dry such that they don' smear.

Love this journal! I recently became a fountain pen enthusiast, and was told I’d need high quality paper for the best results. After some research, I opted for the Black n’ Red Business Journal, and couldn’t be more pleased. The size is ideal for my purposes, being not as big and clumsy as standard notebook paper, but not cramped and tiny, like a note pad. The paper is super fine & smooth- very good quality, & I find even my less expensive fountain pens that skip on ordinary paper write beautifully on this paper! The pages are numbered, with a nice thin rule lines that leave ample space for writing and help keep the content neat-looking. The black cover has a water resistant, supple, faux leather look & feel. There’s a pocket inside the back cover for any loose pages or other items you may need to slip in, & the red elastic strap is rather handy for keeping it all securely together.I highly recommend this journal, and will certainly be buying more for myself, and as gifts.

i have used their full-size hardbound journals and loved the paper and construction quality, but wanted to go back to the smaller size with softbound cover. I absolutely love it. It's the perfect size, and the paper is thick enough to use both sides even with my wet flowing fountain pens and dark ink. I bought it specifically to use with fountain pens, and it is perfect. Not too slick like Rhodia and not junk like copier paper. Also their bright white paper is far superior to the yellow tinge found on most other notebooks, even Moleskine. My only problem is with Amazon itself. I paid $8.40 for the first one, and now their "Buy it again" offer is for twice the price !!

Red is an awesome color. Not too girly by any means. Was one of my worries. When I got it "holy cow look at this little thing" I didnt really imagine it being this small and didnt really focus on measurements. But its awesome Keeping for sure. May get a bigger one too. Very happy ..have yet to fully open to pages but it just looks so damn good how it is. Will use it in the coming days Im sure inside wont change the way I feel. Hardcover binding.. GREAT. Texture of cover GREAT. Any questions. ask. Would refer to other people for sure. Wish I was a spokesperson. haha Black and Red are my favorite colors too. Bought a big note book in staples at one point a long time ago. loved it. was higher in price then as well as now but price worthiness all depends on consumer. I dont mind it. How often can you get a hard cover notebook..... with rubber band closure.....of this quality.

Good quality paper and sturdy construction, and I like that the branding on this one is more subtle than that annoying "Black n' Red" title that blares from the cover on their other styles. The numbered pages are also a huge point in its favor.The only reason this isn't my go-to notebook is that it doesn't have a ribbon bookmark. (Their casebound notebooks do have a bookmark, but those don't include the numbered pages.) Some kind of hybrid style between the two would be ideal, but until that happens, I'll keep looking.
