I enjoyed reading this book because it provides great information on financial planning and guidance. I definitely recommend this book.

Refreshing change from the usual "accumulation theory" financial planning advice. Added some new perspectives about opportunity costs and taxation.My only complaint is too short(!) which is why I gave it a 4 star. The last chapter seemed clipped off. I think there's probably a lot more to be said.

In "Busting the Financial Planning Lies" Kim Butler covers all the angles of the retirement game I ever heard of and presents a look at changing a way of thinking about planning for your retirement, Proseperity Economics. She stresses planning your savings and investments should be structured towards what you hope to achieve throughout your life. That is so dfferent from the "save all you can and hope for the best" approach that is the general mind think about financial planning and ultimately retirement. She explains "opportunity" costs. She quotes Robert Kiyosaki"s book, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", asserting the need for people to become financially literate. And that is what "Busting the Financial Planning Lies" reveals to the reader, the basics in financial planning including the old school approach and a different perspective, which she backs up with easy to understand examples. I noticed that some of the people who reviewed the book lamented that they wish they had this information and direction when they were younger. I agree, however, I found much that I can apply to my planning right now and even a clarification on what I want. After I glean all I can from this book, I am sharing it with everyone in my family.

I was looking for more discussion on retirement instruments.It wad an easy read. Would like more tax reducing ideas

Like many of my fellow senior citizens, I fell pray to the common financial planning beliefs. I was "taught" early on buy term and invest the difference. I did well at first, investing in mutual funds. Later I found out how much I spent in fees and, heaven help me, how much I had to pay in capital gains taxes if the fund sold off any holdings at a profit. Thanks to the information in this book, I was able to take advantage of alternative ways to increase my wealth and become more prosperous. I only wish I had understood this concept sooner! Sitting in front of a financial planner and trying to guess my net wealth, while setting unrealistic goals based on unrealistic averages, didn't make sense to me then and still seems foolish to me today. Kim D H Butler lays out a much more sensible way to grow your wealth. The book is a fast read, but you should take time and study the charts. They take some thought, but they are worth the effort.

Too bad I didn't have Kim's perspective 30 years ago, when I was in my 20s! But I'll take her advice anyway now that I'm approaching 60 . . . And I'll share it with my adult children . . . Even though I wish I had been able to teach them these principles when they were in high school and college.Stunning perspectives on saving, investing, how money works . . . And how you can make your assets (financial AS WELL AS mental and physical) work more effectively FOR you. The author uses several original, easy-to-understand and highly memorable "fables" to get key concepts across.WELL worth the investment (both time and money) to read this book!

Loved the info in this book solidify's why whole life is a smart investment and debunks traditional thinking from financial advisors.

A fantastic collection of simple, sound, and yet PROFOUND concepts using a century-old product to deliver a low-risk HIGH RETURN yield using your time tested strategies. I have been reading your material for over a decade and remain awestruck in how PROFOUND and EFFECTIVE your strategies remain.
