Defective manufacturing.
The pawn chess piece I received was defective. It was bent over at an angle. I requested a replacement from Amazon. It arrived just a few days later but, unfortunately, had the same defect. I am in the process of returning both and have requested a refund. I am no longer interested in pursuing this item.
