Cheap and brilliant
This only takes 4 or 5 decent screws and it is fitted, there is no housing out or chisel work and it solves the age old problem of doors pulling themselves off the frame when the hit the adjacent wall next to the hinge side of the frame. It’s ideal where a door stop would be impossible or would cause a trip hazard. You can mount it at the top which keeps it out the way or on the floor and top together for double the strength. It’s great for doors that get caught by the wind. If you want you can bolt it deep into the transom and right through the door if you want to. It’s very sturdy and is only as strong as your fixings are. A lifesaver in a commercial situation where door stops are not a viable option. (Schools, trip hazard etc)

Great product, would definitely recommend
Been using it for over a year now on a garage door, great product, very sturdy, easy to install, definitely not made of cheap materials

More about the travel than the stay?
I bought the ZEROplus Friction Door Limiting Stay as a means to control the unruly behaviour of a wooden, outward-opening personnel door to my garage, which was very easily blown too far open, even by a mild gust. Intended primarily for restraining wooden, rather than (the more ubiquitous) uPVC doors, the ZEROplus Friction Door Limiting Stay presented itself as the only real contender I could find to meet the need of limiting door opening to about 90 degrees. Curiously, however, at the end of the fitting instructions it’s claimed that this is not the intended purpose of the stay and that it is merely meant to control, by friction, the speed of opening or closing the door. While I try to envisage how that would be useful, I can say that the device seems rugged enough to me to fulfil the purpose for which I purchased it although, acknowledging the recommendation from the manufacturer that “a supplementary door holding device should be fitted”, I am still careful not to leave the door open in blustery conditions. Fixing the device to the frame and door was relatively straightforward, although I did have to reposition the friction box plate on the door face once I fully understood the intention of the instructions; nothing wrong with a bit of trial and error… Also, it’s worth noting that the fitting instructions assume a square frame; if like mine the underside of your door frame is angled, you might need to employ a couple of washers as spacers to ensure correct alignment and operation of the friction box and arm. The device appears to be well made, with a good finish and I would judge the overall appearance to be fairly discreet. My ZEROplus Friction Door Limiting Stay has been in place for about three weeks now. It’s doing exactly what I wanted it to and I guess the friction element does play its part by making the door less inclined to swing open suddenly.

Strong product, but poor instructions, no fixings and could be better described
This is a speed restrictor and door opening limiter rather than a door stopper. It's made from thick and solid metal and I can't see the product failing in a strong wind, but it won't stop the door hinges or door frame from soaking up all the energy when the wind whips the door open and this door stay reaches it's point of maximum opening. It does help though, especially if the speed restricting bolt is tightened adequately (although that makes the door feel stiff every time its opened). The product comes with no fixings (no screws) and the instructions are poor. Possible or correct screw sizes aren't mentioned at all (I used 5mm x 30mm posi screws) and there's no information provided about product positioning in order to achieve certain maximum door opening angles. I wanted the door to open about 100 degrees and it took two people to achieve this by holding the heavy item and adjusting it into position whilst holding the door that was being swung by the wind. For info, it turned out the gap between the hinge axis and door stay was approximately 3cm, but I was disappointed that the instructions didn't provide these measurements as it would have made the process far easier and would have only needed one person. Saying that, it turns out that an opening of 90 degrees or less is much kinder on the doors hinges and door frame if the wind does whip the door open. The stresses placed on everything beyond a 90 degree swing (85 degrees really) is significant and a very strong gust could end badly for the door hinges and frame (over time if not immediately). It would be best if the product was better described and improved fitting instructions provided. It functions well as long as it's correctly installed. It's not hugely expensive but it's 20 percent more than I'd have thought it's worth.

Decent quality, does the job well.
This is quite a heavy, well made bit of kit. I got one to stop a garage personnel door opening too far when the wind takes it, and it does that job well. In true bloke fashion I didn't bother reading the instructions, and fitting is dead easy, a five minute job once you've figured out how it's supposed to work. I can't speak for the friction device part of it, because I only use it as a limiter.

Quality item.
Very robust quality, but beware in high winds the door hinges were ripped apart. The ZEROplus was undamaged. So yes, it’s tough alright.

Perfect slimline product

We have an exterior door that opens outwards and is often caught by the wind and as a result of being blown open it has damaged the door and the doors hinges. Fitting this door travel limiter has now helped stop the door from being blown open to a point where it sustains damage. The travel limiter also has adjustable friction to slow the opening of the door.

Limiteur d’ouverture a priori costaud.
